I knew that, but learning more can never hurt. Hehe.
If not languages, there’s all kinds of nifty apps out there. Something engaging can actually help take your mind off other things. (I don’t really know what else to suggest.)
I honestly appreciate the advice. Languages are one of my passions, and if I could stop the depressive negativity which prevents me from seriously pursuing almost anything, it would be full speed ahead.
Depression is a funny thing: most people think of it kind of as ‘oy, I’m miserable.’ But for clinicians (which I’m not) it’s a lack of affect or desire: ergo, you don’t try anything because you’re convinced it will inevitably end up in failure. For someone suffering from such a syndrome, it takes a long time to accept that what you’re suffering from is depression, and not some more mundane, more easily ‘solvable’ condition.
Once again, thanks for your kind words: at the end of the day, it might be all we have.

You could try learning another language. If you have a smartphone, check out the app Duolingo. It’s fun and a good way to occupy time.
Thanks for the advice. I actually do speak some other languages — one on a regular basis, as I don’t live in the U.S.
