Well, what do you expect from the crappy Apple programmers – Skynet?
As long as they slap nice slick plastic on the outside, it really doesn’t matter what they stick inside.. : )
I own all apple products. No iPhone, but my iMac and iPod are great. Haven’t listened to music in months, but that’s my depression making decisions for me.
I prefer not apple products. But the point of this post was rather to express I need to update my music and I suck at finding good songs, rather then to diss Apple.
Well the Youtube suggestions bar is pretty good for that…sometimes. Also there are radio websites that will put on random songs from a genre you pick. I use those methods a lot when I want to find new music.
I know lots and lots of POGUE’s . . . too many I think. Siri is like a voice activated calculator though, too.
@TheRiver
The suggestion thing and radios don’t help because I listen to pretty much every type of music. Especially if you like metal or something which really for me a song can’t lead me to another good one because it has to be specific. (In that genre). I learned the only genre those methods tend to work for is country.
@clevername
I don’t know if I should be glad or not glad I didn’t experience decision making ‘back in those days’. (Those days can’t be as hard as you old folks claim)
Good music is scarce these days, with rabid commercialism and major labels selling out their unfound talent all for the sake of a quick million or so. In recent years, I’ve resorted to listening to student radio and the ‘alternative’ (ooh…how edgy) stations that I stumble across. I avoid mainstream media like it were the plague and dislike top 40 crap. Am I a closeted hipster? Maybe. Minus the ironic moustache however.
IMO, mac products are disregarded because it takes forever for games to release on mac. It’s the antithesis of why windows is successful: they basically own the PC gaming market, due to the prevalence of DirectX.
If the devs/studios/hardware-makers would abandon DirectX, microsoft would collapse, because everyone would just game on *nix instead (except the console peeps and M$ fanboys).
But then, if that happened, Apple might see a boom in long-battery-life laptops and mobile devices, because most gamers would like something that barely uses power, for those casual times when you don’t need a 1kw+ gaming rig chewing through power.
I was taking some stabs in the dark. Like I said, I’m numb to music when I’m depressed. If ITS listen to it,it makes my mood lower. So “off” with the radio for now.
I can tell you no matter my mood, not a fan of 80’s music at all
(and it’s funny you should mention that term, because my comment above was the precursor to how hipsters became a thing: we had to figure out for ourselves, what was “cool” or not… but every time something cool got popular, aka “went mainstream,” it was no longer appealing, because it became surrounded and tainted by a miasma of cringe-worthy superficiality…)
Bipolar, maybe you could try some music without lyrics?
You know, just music, no ‘my heaaaart will go oooooooon aaaand ooooon’ strangled-cat-like screeching
gillian my depression is very black and white. I either thoroughly enjoy something or have any interest in it at all. I see what you’re saying though, wouldn’t help much having a watered down version of what I typically like.
Bipolar, one way to introduce gray shades/ or otherwise stated – a change in your life/ is to try new things. Liking the new things of course is not mandatory.. but the fact is you never know until you try.
People do change you know? Tastes change too. But you’ve got to give it a chance, saying ‘no’ to everything new or different is simply not moving you anywhere.

I think it is because I AM all out of good music, to be honest.

“Bravo No. 2 – Change barrel! Change barrel!”
“Derp uhuehue lolwut?”
Siri reminds me of your typical POGUE: a person of good use elsewhere.

back in my day, we had to decide what was cool, 7 days a week, in the snow, uphill, both ways.

I am proud to say I own zero apple products.
Hey Struggleon, download anything with Miley Cyrus or Rihanna and you’ll be good.
Bipolar American,
Geeeeez, I think that’s the exact music I’m sick of hearing.
Mac products are overlooked 98% of the time because people want a cheaper alternative. You get what you pay for, and it’s the best.

There’s always Katy Perry.
Bipolar, not my style, buddy. Although I did dig the lyrics to ‘Dark Horse’.

“Cannot comply: Please insert ice cubes into audio port.”
Yeah, Mac doesn’t have certain markets tied down like PC does. But in my experience, the avoid pop ups, viruses and most of all…….they always work!
@shephard:
the only real hipsters hate hipsters. 😉

And Mac gets completely useless as soon as you go beyond gaming and popular applications.

I try new things all the time gillian. I’m not the no-man you paint me out to be. I do own Mac products after all….oh, and I’ll try anything once
