Greetings. This is my first post in this site, and although I bet your issues are probably bigger than the ones I will expose here, I would still appreciate no bashing. Thanks in advance.
I don’t exactly remember the last day I could breathe clearly through my nose. I feel like it was more than 15 years ago. And I have tried a lot of things to try to get that feeling back: I rinse my nose with water and salts, I have been taking pills daily for several years… even tried grabbing whatever is inside of my nose with tweezers and wooden sticks. Nothing works. But the worst part is that I cannot breathe clearly, but my nose is receiving all kinds of smells. And for some reason, the smells of stuff such as perfumes, certain deodorants and cleaning products disgust me to the point they either make me feel dizzy, nauseate or faint. And no, my smelling sense is not limited by distance, as I can tell when a woman will pass by and leave the distinctive stench of cheap, fruity cologne. Compared to that, the odor of junkyards in summer is heaven.
Society encourages us to hide our bodily smells since they are not exactly appealing in a formal sense (Biologically speaking, they are, since they are full of pheromones) and I, personally, have nothing against it (I shower every single day and I use cream based, almost odorless deodorants), but sometimes having to get out of my place and walk by others who will mostly use strong, sweet smelling odored stuff… it just makes me sick. I cannot dodge everyone and sometimes the situations get worse, like when I am waiting in line in a bank or waiting for a job interview. What do those have in common? Closed places. I do not know if any people have issues like this one, but seriously, it almost feels unfair that I have a problem just like that. I have never experienced anything else, such as hallucinations, delusions or other health problems (Actually, I do, but I will address them in other texts), but it is just sick that I cannot inhale some air outside of my safe areas (My room and hardly anything else) without feeling my body tremble and go weak.
Is it true that my dead soul would not have to breathe again?

Have you been to the doctor about the physical issues of not being able to breathe through your nose? You may have polyps or some other “defect” that can be surgically treated.
As for the second part, the overwhelming, sickly feeling you get around strong perfumey odors.. Could be a number of things. Could be you’re allergic to the common fragrances that are used. My husband worked with a couple who had allergies like that. They couldn’t let anyone into their home that was wearing any kind of perfume, deodorant, or even had showered that morning with a “smelly” body soap or shampoo.
Also, I know that some medical conditions can cause this type of situation. Certain diseases/conditions can alter the way our brains register and perceive sensory information, which includes our sense of smell.
I’d say if you haven’t yet, consult with a doctor about the physical and sensory issues you’re having. They may be able to narrow down the cause.
Greetings.
I have been to three different otorhynolaryngologists just for this issue. The diagnosis was: Chronic Rhinitis, beginning of sinusitis and two cysts, one in each maxillary cavity. Actually, the second one gave me the pills I have been taking for years, and the last one told me to rinse my nose with water and salts and also gave me nasal sprays, which I have been using for months, without results.
The second part… I am not exactly allergic (Even though one of the doctors told me to stay away from strong smells), although I am to dust and other stuffs. And it is not like I am just disgusted by the smell of perfumes, as I also am unlikable to find myself comfortable around, say, fresh dog diarrhea. I just… do not know.
Either way, thank you for taking the time to read me.
fresh dog diarrhea… I doubt that anyone likes that smell. Sorry that you cant breathe clearly. I hope you can find a way to fix this…
This is doubly difficult because it’s something physical that you can’t reason yourself out of, and it’s something most people can’t even conceive of. Best of luck to you, and I hope the docs do figure something out.
I don’t know if it’s the similar in your case, but I got several allergies which make me have to blow my nose all day long. During summer and pollination times it’s the worst, I get sore nose and eyes. That’s why I like winter more than summer, even though a cold can have pretty much the same effect. When it is worst the nose starts bleeding like once a week.
But I got used to it; I never leave my place without a few hankies, I use the water+salt combination as well (imo it works pretty well when the nose is all red and sore) and I use a kind of nose oil. Also I would never use regular nasal spray since you get addicted to it and after using it for a month it will be even worse when you stop taking it.
I used to get allergic injections once a week for about 1-2 years to desensitize (right word?) against the allergies and it kinda worked, but the allergies aren’t gone 100%. It could be worth a try testing what you are actually allergic against.
Don’t know if this helped you. In the end when you’ve tried everything you just have to learn to live with it and not let that problem rule over your life.
