the owners of this site probably have decided not to allow methods to be discussed due to legal reasons. Like not wanting to get sued by somebody.
but there is information about the subject both on the web and through books can be purchsed
SP Admin, I hope (probably in futility) that you’ll reconsider this one day. Those of us who are genuinely suicidal and close to ending it are often very restricted in what we can say to other people in real life because we fear things like involuntary commitment to a hospital or having the means of suicide taken away from us. The internet and SP in particular are our absolute last resorts for expressing ourselves and receiving genuine, helpful support were we can talk honestly without fearing that the police will come by to lock us up in prison (doublespeak term would be “psychiatric ward”).
And yes, there are other forums. But none of them are as much a community as this one. Alt suicide holiday and suicide methods hideout are great for discussing methods alone, but they aren’t supportive communities. Perhaps that is OK because we can split our needs between the sites, but our methods are intimate parts of “our stories of suicide.” Open exchange on this site would make it easier for people to discuss their stories of suicide frankly and honestly and to receive support that is better targeted for them.
Alls i am saying is that I’d rather this restriction didn’t exist. It seems arbitrary and unnecessary and it prevents open exchange of our experiences with suicide. I’ve also noticed that enforcement of this rule is pretty uneven. But hey, it’s your site and your decision, of course.
The problem is we can’t differentiate — and don’t want to be put in the position to try to do so — between an expression of one’s suicidal story, and one’s direct request for the easiest/best way to kill oneself (which is the usual post — like this one).
We allow some indirect discussion of methods here… like a passing mention of your method of choice or what-not in the context of a larger post.
I know it seems arbitrary, but it’s actually based upon our experiences in running this place for the past decade. Yes, this site is really that old.
I haven’t been on this site for long, but I see your point. Yet there are some on here that are torturing themselves in determined efforts that are bound to fail and are extremely painful and can have serious long term (further) negative consequences for them, both physically and mentally.
Yet with a bit of decent info their suffering can be minimized. Breaks my heart.
I suppose the best to do within the rules is to point out they are on the wrong track. But I can’t point them in a better direction.
It always amazes me that society will peacefully put down a suffering animal but refuse to do the same service for a suffering human that cannot be helped otherwise.

Umm, if you can’t follow the 3 simple rules we have, then sorry, we’re not for you.
The Internet’s a BIG place. I’m sure if you Googled hard enough, you’d find what you’re looking for.

Nope, has nothing to do with legal reasons. It has everything to do with the purpose of the project — to share our stories of suicide.
Try Reddit or .Onion sites.
Good luck with your search, too bad SP couldn’t be of any use to you.
