Well I wound up colorazing this one instead. I downloaded this to my computer a while back with the intention of coloring it in.
Thank you for the honor of allowing me to do this.
Radiohead has a new album out. All Hail Radiohead.
Not sure which I like better. Thom is looking kinda rugged there.

Both are very nice…. I think I like the second best though, as I like the blending thing you did with it…. I also like the analogous color scheme, which keeps most of this cooler but lets a little bit be warmer.
ONe is the backdrop for the other but lately I’ve been likeing the backdrop to the paintings as much as the foreground.
Thank you.
I just wish the women haunting them in the background came out more in the second one.
wait so the second one is like painted first? then the other one painted on top of that? is that what you mean by backdrop? Is this a painting thing (I don’t know that much about painting)
second as in top one is first…. I assume the second would be on bottom but not sure…. I’m confused ATM -_-
No the second one is done after the first and I drop it behind the first to fill in the tiny holes that I can’t possibly get on the original painting. this is an electronic painting.
So essentially it is done in the reverse of a physical painting where I would block in the color and composition first then paint the detail over it.
oh okay…. I was sort of curious as it seemed to be done pre quickly from the time of you asking phantomcitizin about coloring them…. Okay I guess I understand now, you like just overlay them…. So in physical painting you do layers though? Is that what I’m doing wrong with my paintings then? as I only paint one layer.
I always have multiple layers. Physical oil paintings can take me weeks of layering. Watercolors can take a long time unless I use a blow dryer. I like using a painting program on the computer with a electronic pen because I don’t have to wait for things to dry. The painting program I use I have to physically draw everything on the electronic canvas. I can’t “lasso” an area and block it in. I like the limitation of the medium. i have another program that has a ton of bells and whistles but I don’t use it. The program I use only has pencil, pastel and oil mediums and a limited pallet that I have to physically mix. I can’t touch the screen and use the color that I see in the picture. So I have to physically eyeball it, which is as close to real life painting as I can get without the mess.
That sounds nice. 😀 I’ve only done acrylics before, and I have found that waiting for them to dry is the longest part…. Should I be layering those too? O.o I really suck at painting but I have found that I really enjoy painting, I really really like mixing colors…. I find the process to be relaxing, like watching the bits of colors eventually just sort of fold into eachother and become a different color is great. I might be doing some painting over this weekend, I have a mobile due Monday and depending on how it looks I may want to paint it a bit.
No one is born a good painter. It takes a lot of practice. You can use a blow dryer on your acrylic paints they dry faster. I used to do that a lot. I haven’t painted with acrylics in a long time. Oils are my favorite, watercolors my nemisis.
This new electronic medium allows me to paint when traditionally I wouldn’t be able to. I have kids and cats and dogs and shit, and getting out 50 tubes of toxic insanity is just a recipe for an emergency room visit.
Yeah I need so much more practice…. which will be fun to get. I guess I will try out a blow dryer next time, and maybe try layering. I’ll see how that works out…. I’m going to be using acrylics for a bit, as I still have a lot of acrylics left and once I run out I think I will try oil paints next…. water colors just don’t seem like fun to me…. I probably want to get different materials to paint on too, as bristol board warps a bit.
I used to get old bed sheets and stretch them on stretcher board and prime them with gesso. Great mediium for acrylic and it dries a lot faster. Plus you can go really really big. Very smooth painting surface.
hmmmm I may try that ^_^ could be a fun thing to do over summer (eventhough I’m taking classes, none will be art classes so I will be free to do art things ^_^) Right now I’m getting irritated with making a wireframe….
Use 1x2s and square corner braces with a 1×4 across the back. Adds more stability to the frame.
Very nice.
Thank you. Same goes for your awesome drawings you send me.
WOW!! I love that top one. That is amazing.
thanks for colorizing that. COOL!!!!!!
Isn’t this the one you said you didnt like? I can’t remember but I remember looking at it and thinking OMG I HAVE to color that in.
No, I did the drawing and liked the drawing black and white. But I LOVE what you have done with it in color. If I had tried to colorize it it would not have come out so good.
It wonderful. I like the top one. BUT > I think the eye could be changed. The eye kind f sticks out too much. If you tail that down a bit it will be perfect.
More blue in the eye? Or smaller eye?
I think more blue in the eye and a bit smaller and it would look FREAKING FABULOUS!!!
I LOVE the whole thing you have done. The colors you choose are PERFECT. But that one eye stands out to much. Its like out of context.
but the rest is perfect.
Great JOB>
@phantom: I uploaded v2
perfect!!!
Im going to have this printed up and hang it on my wall. the top one.
YES YES YES its fabulous
Wow. Thank you. Well you’re welcome. That made my night.
I must be hungry, because it reminds me of two things:
1) I am exactly that depressed and void of energy.
2) Holy crap, I want some blueberry pie RIGHT NOW.
Yes but do you have sexy spine free ladies dancing mysteriously behind you….
Yeah he looks pretty tapped out.
I’m going to eat some frozen blueberries. If I let them melt I can pretend they are pie. They make my teeth delightfully blue/black.
You are a beautifully talented artist. They are all wonderful in their own ways. Good job. And Thank you for sharing your work with us.
Wow thank you. It has been a very grey week. Grey mood, grey life. I have felt absolutely no inspiration either way. I am forcing myself out of that headspace by doing this. I tried to paint flowers yesterday. Started five paintings none of which I got far with. It felt pointless. Things are getting pointless again. So I need to force myself out of that headspace. Only I can do it. NO one can help me do it. IRL no one will anyway.
You know how it says on SP information site “if you think someone will stop you, no one will”? Well that is IRL for me. If I think someone will help me, or notice that I am headed south, or do anything, no one will. Only I can save me.
fucking bleak shit.
