I know you were being facetious, but you have a point. Let’s say your meal is 700 calories and your drink is another 200 calories. That makes your drink 22% of the calories. That can add up very quickly.
Every day, billions of people wake up so that they can go to work so that they can get enough money to eat something so that they can live long enough to go to work some more the next day. And they either don’t notice or don’t care how circular it is.
I have loved the sound and feel of this song for 20 years but never even paid attention to the lyrics. Never once, not til today, did I take a look at the lyrics. Whoa!
In addition to my points above, if someone is diabetic they need to order a diet drink regardless of what they order for their meal. While they shouldn’t be eating unhealthy food like this very often, an occasional meal like this isn’t going to hurt them, but the sugar content in a regular soft drink could cause serious problems.
I was talking about people who do this specifically to lose weight, barring sugar issues or whatnot – like it’s OK to eat that giant burger and fries, but let’s not go overboard and have a diet soda.
Yeah I realized once again you were talking about silly/ironic right after I clicked POST COMMENT. The Duggers are irresponsible and a few other things…
I’m seriously considering this as my last meal actually. Sounds good. I usually drink Diet Coke because I prefer it, but I think I might be losing a bit of weight soon anyway…:)
Woody, your post just sparked my memory of my “last meal”. Well it would have been…
Anyway it was just something simple, something picked off a shelf at a convenience store. I remember wanting no more human interaction than absolutely necessary that night. I remember dreading getting fuel for my car with that same dread of unwanted human interaction.

Excessive spending because there are discounts.
The diet Coke subtracts from the fat content of the Big Mac and fries.
It’s like eating a carrot and a Twinkie.
One cancels out the other.

This is gonna sound pretentious as fuck, but:

That is silly to me.
I agree completely.
There’s actually a great quote on that. I’ll make another post and post it.
“‘Cause it’s a
bitter sweet symphony,
this life
Trying to make
ends meet, you’re a
slave to money,
then you die”
–The Verve: Bitter Sweet Symphony (1997)

I definitely prefer Diet Pepsi over regular.
Having, say, 19 children.
Ugh, people like the damn Duggers. They need to have their fucking tubes tied. Seriously.
Well, my post was more about silly / ironic things people do. Like eating a burger and fries but decide to order a diet drink 😛
