If there was a god that saw fit to not let his creations suffer, possibly. Is that the case, though? Historically humans have endured suffering for their entire history, whether there is a god or not. Suffering is just a part of the plan, regardless of the existence or non-existence of god. I’m not trying to make light of your suffering at all, rather still trying to reconcile my own, as well as everyone elses. The Holocaust. The world wars. Syria. Puerto Rico. Mexico City. Las Vegas.
No matter what we’re told about a god who wishes to help us through suffering and anguish, it continues, and the kind and decent as well as the evil and cruel, suffer.
This movie may or may not interest you, but it’s a story of a group of Jewish prisoners in the Holocaust who asked the same question. “God on Trial.” Amazing movie.
. . . if there was a god who cared. In my opinion, that’s the key distinction. God, no god, I have no idea, noone knows for sure, but the stories humans have created make god out to be on our side, a caring god who is there to help. We put ourselves in positions of being conflicted by believing in a caring god, only to find there is no evidence, and then become angry at the fact that we believed . . . fairy tales. I personally believe SOMETHING is responsible for all that is, and that whatever it is doesn’t give a rats ass if we live, die, prosper, or suffer, because those things are all just aspects of the system we exist in. That’s just my opinion, based on what I see. I totally get what you’re saying.
Well, doesn’t the old testament has God even admitting he’s a jealous God and a vindictive God? Doesn’t sound like a great caring god who’s on our side to me.
Also, this means that all the animals and all the humans are descended from 2 parents who had their offspring fornicate with each other incestuously in order to produce further offspring. If one is to believe the Moses story. Though maybe that explains why this planet is so messed up.
But it was Noah and his Yacht. Moses was the ten commandments feller.
I like how god apologized for drowning everyone by putting a rainbow in the sky. Now, every time I see a rainbow, I think “Hey, at least he won’t drown me!” and I’m happy. 😉
Or…we could just wait for Kim Jong Un to call Cheetos, Donny “Tiny Hands,” and within seconds we’ll have the Cheetos-in-Chief pressing that nuclear button. “Ha, I’ll show you tiny hands…” ***BOOM!***
I’m no bible scholar, but the story of Moses and Pharaoh is amazing. In a nutshell, god is pissed at Pharaoh for not listening to Moses when he asked him to free the Israelites, so god decided the best thing to do is make the people of Egypt suffer. And man did he make them suffer. Not Pharaoh, he didn’t touch him. God went after the common folks with a vengeance. Plagues, turning rivers to blood, destroying crops, years of famine and disease, and, oh yeah, he sent the angel of death to kill the first born children of the Egyptians. He slaughtered infants, to teach Pharaoh a lesson. And this is the same god we turn to on bended knee in our time of sadness?
God’s groupies will point out that “oh, that was the old testament god. The new testament god sent his son to die for us, that we might have eternal life, thats how much he cares.”
Uh huh.
I bought into the fantasy for many years, until logic kicked in and it became obvious that suffering just is. God, no god, it just is.
Yes, quite an amazing story indeed. Makes you wonder if the story was made up by an elite to shift the blame on everything onto the poor and powerless common folk? Nah… Just like elites today who mislead the public into thinking everything is the poor man’s fault? Nah… The deficit isn’t from wasteful spending on wars to enrich the rich. Nooo, it’s the $37/wk that we have to dole out to the POOR deadbeats who can’t afford food. Because you know, we don’t want to pay those scum living wages or nuthin’. Or rent. That we rich jack up. Or stole because they didn’t finish paying that last 27c on their mortgage. House is now ours!

If there was a god he wouldn’t have put you, or any of us in this situation to begin with.

Yeah. He drowned everyone in “The Big Flood”, except the animals, so at least he likes kittens.
No, he drowned them too. He had Moses only “take 2 of each animal,” remember?
Also, this means that all the animals and all the humans are descended from 2 parents who had their offspring fornicate with each other incestuously in order to produce further offspring. If one is to believe the Moses story. Though maybe that explains why this planet is so messed up.
Oh yeah, forgot that part.

Yes Noah lol.
But wait, don’t you *want* to be drowned?? 😛
If it’ll get me out of here, ok. I’d rather be sitting in the park as a nuclear bomb explodes five feet away, though.
Uhm, if it makes you feel “better,” 65 percent of the U.S. population lives within 50 miles of a nuclear power plant. So, if anything goes wrong…
“boom goes the dynamite” as Brian Collins would say

End of the world as we know it. Or the ones left will have 2 heads and 3 eyes and 14 toes from the radiation.
if there was a god, he will not help you. he will continue to watch you suffer
Exactly!
All your prayers are answered. Usually its “no”…
lol

I pray to god to end my life every chance I get.
i know it’s logical to think so Leah
but maybe there is a possibility that we’re not considering… 😐
that He has a reason for you to still be here…
