Hey, Mordred. Sorry for not answering your comment on my previous post.
So far, I have not found a way to be happy. I’m miserable when I try to be good, and also miserable when I stop trying. But I know that if there is a way to be happy, it won’t come from being good. Being good and clean is not compatible with being happy.
You never have to be sorry for not answering my comments :).
If that’s what you believe, there’s no harm in indulging a little and seeing if it will bring you happiness. The path is always there for you if you ever want to return to it.
Personally I find that when I indulge in my darkness, the happiness I feel is a very hollow one, and it never lasts. I think (or I hope) that lasting peace, if it exists, can only come from true goodness.
How are “happy” and “good” mutually exclusive? If you are “bad,” won’t you also feel guilt, which then means “not happy” rather than bad and happy? unless…there’s no guilt and no conscience?
I think it’s a spectrum. Happy is something that happens when things are good and you aren’t paying attention. It’s like the secret to flying – throw yourself at the ground and miss. As soon as you notice the ground hurtling towards your face, your failure to fly is assured. But if you don’t notice the ground, you’ll soar like an eagle, until you notice that you’re defying gravity. Then you’ll fall like a bowling ball.
When I made this post, I knew someone would ask me, so I knew I’d end up explaining it, but now that I actually have to, I don’t know how to start. Sounds about right.

As in terrible to other people?
Being terrible to other people is immoral, yes. Although that isn’t all there is to being a bad person.
Good is subjective. I’m thinking at least right now in my life, happy is as well. The rub is which can I be?
I don’t believe that good is subjective. I believe that that’s just something people tell themselves when they want to do wrong and feel no guilt.
This reminded me of that song, “I can’t decide,” by the Scissor Sisters. Sent a chill right down my spine, it did.
Or the Kinks…
Never heard it.
If you have a way to be happy, be happy. Being good isn’t worth all the trouble.

You see, I’m not so sure that the path will always be there for me to return to it. Especially if I use it as an excuse to do wrong.
But you might be right about that last point. Maybe true happiness can only be found in doing good. I pray to God that that’s true.
If I had to decide, I’d want to try “happy.”
But I’m high on mushrooms.
That is kind of a shortcut to happiness right?
It’s a shortcut to having conversations with plants.
If anyone ever makes an ad about mushrooms, this right here should be it.
Be sure to include that it is a suicide “support” site.
