There are few theories explaining how life came about, then there’s the most senseless one in my opinion and is widely regarded as true: Creation. I cannot dismiss its possibility though. If it’s true however, then its the saddest reality in my opinion, it shows that there’s a greater “evil” than we actually witness in the world, there’s the most wicked entity and that entity is the one responsible for creation therefore all that we come across, that repulsive; spiteful and vile entity is god. For all my life I’ve never experienced true happiness, and the situation gets worse with time. I tried my best to improve myself and the quality of my life but I dismally failed because of my very limited capabilities. I’m not blaming god for my inadequacies, but if what they say is true about his omniscience, then I hate him with everything in me. He foreknew that my life would be miserable and that of all who took their own lives before me but he went on and created us for his own selfish reasons subjecting us to torture. I don’t mean to rant but I needed to write down how disgusted, repulsed and hateful I am of that sadistic monster. My one last wish is to see that piece of trash and spit in his face, disregarding the consequences I would be satisfied For the first time ever.

YES! I totally agree!
I agree that the idea of an all-loving, all-powerful, all-knowing God is perplexing. My guess would be that if a ‘creator’ exists, it’s not like a person – caring about the experience of sentient creatures or experiencing empathy – but more like a very powerful artificial intelligence, with it’s own obscure purposes. Either that, or it’s just someone really incompetent – powerful enough to trigger the process of creation, but with no idea what was going to happen or ability to intervene.
I doubt if ‘he’ exists that he’s truly evil or sadistic. More likely just so different from human emotion that the idea of suffering is utterly meaningless to him, or so powerless that all he can do is sit idly by and watch it all unfold. I prefer these views to the idea of a petulant tyrant sitting on a cloud, though they do make life seem somewhat absurd. Though obviously the more likely scenario is that there was no creator at all.
Either way the husk my hate for him is warranted. It would be different if he was an incompetent moron who just started something and is out of his control, but if our suffering doesn’t affect him at all, that would mean our existence is nothing more than just amusement to him and I can’t think of anything more twisted than that, even the Satan described in the bible is not that immoral.
I’m not sure it would be ‘amusement’ or immoral – that implies human emotions and values. The kind of creator I’m thinking of would be totally removed from such concerns – focused purely on it’s goals, with no real consideration of the suffering involved. Less a person, more a super-intelligence. You could hate it, but it would kind of like hating a force of nature – it just does what it does, and cannot do otherwise. But as I said, more likely is that there’s just no one there.
As long as we’re talking about silly God theories, there’s another one that says god is benevolent and loving but the forces of evil have taken over and are too powerful. Think of a parent who has a child with good intentions but can’t shield the child from all the bad people in the world because they are more powerful
The version I learned is, it’s not that evil is more powerful, but it’s temporarily being allowed to flourish so we can understand how bad it is.
I realize there are a lot of different views.
That’s another interesting take. Yes it’s tempting to invent 1 cause, 1 explanation for all the suffering, but the possibilities are infinite. I stick to known facts meaning I blame only myself for my failures. But on a cosmic scale it’s fun to theorize why we don’t get our Disney expectations.
But then cordless, what’s the point of all of that?
The nature of whatever god is and isn’t can be extrapolated more efficiently by simple observations of everyday life, and the absence of an intervening deity. Isn’t it obvious the majority of us believe a god should care about us, when the system that’s in place includes misery, suffering and death? Assuming a mystical character with a checklist of good for your life is waiting in the wings to help while you figure out the combination to unlock his grace is why many people hate what they assume is “god.” That help rarely comes. We are on our own here.
God or not, we live, suffer and die in the system that the universe has put in place for us, and that’s about it, in my uneducated opinion. Why make it out to be more or less than that, when there’s just no way any of us will know for sure until we assume room temperature? Hate god, love god, it doesn’t really matter, because if there’s a god or not, we’re all still suffering.
Mgababa, I’m just curious what you think about the Universe, all the galaxies and planets, and empty space, stretching out till wherever. . . Why do you think it’s here? Do you think it came into existence by itself, or do you think there is evidence of intelligent design?
