Hi guys! Well I want to commit suicide but whenever I’m hanging and almost passing out I get up, like I’m afraid of dying. It’s so weird, I’d like to know the difference between someone who attempts suicide vs someone who completes suicide.
I don’t really hate living I just think it’s not worth it and boring.

Weird right? It’s almost as if you have a few million years worth of autonomic and subconscious evolution designed soley to keep you alive. There’s a helpful flowchart on the subject of what psychologically promotes suicide capability https://files.catbox.moe/c2a77w.png
A surprisingly high indicator of realized suicide (compared to suicide attempts) is IQ. On average, high-intelligence individuals seem to be more effective at offing themselves. Probably due to better planning, generalized knowledge, and problem solving capabilities.
But, instead of looking into the finer details of suicide, perhaps you may want to discuss… why? Boring is a dumb reason. You can make life interesting any number of ways. You’ve got to have more than that.
Good point there. I think if I were a higher intelligence I might have been more capable.. I think I’m doing an alright job but I still check myself and get disheartened with how slow it is rolling. I know there are easy ways to get it all put together. I always wonder what my deal is is if it’s that I lack money to purchase the necessary ‘smart plan out’ resources or if I’m just delaying because I am stupid.. I could be doing more but I do less I don’t do enough because I don’t know what I’m doing, over all.
sure, dodge the issues why dont ye 😀
There’s no correlation between intelligence and completed suicide. The only observed trend is that people who attempt with guns have an enormously higher success rate than anyone else. Last time I checked it doesn’t take a lot of brains to pull a trigger. CDC publishes detailed facts on their site, everything else is bs.
Eh, the only thing up for debate to that effect is causation. For example suicide attempts and depression exist at higher rates for those on the >100 side of the IQ curve and tend to track nicely. So the only real question is whether IQ is responsible for more suicide attempts (and hence more successes), or for more successes directly.
Doesnt matter … kinda not the point.
If you have credible research showing any sort of correlation between depression/suicide and intelligence, I’d love to see it. Not being sarcastic, I’ve just been researching trends for over a decade and never seen any scientifically verified study to that nature. More often than not, the intelligence-depression is a tenuous opinion floated by people attempting to justify their depression by saying something to the effect of “I’m smarter than everyone; that’s why I suffer more.” But we all know that’s bullshit.
The CDC is my go-to source because they have a high profile, meaning everyone scrutinized their work, and if there are any errors they get called out quick. The CDC has published exhaustive reports on suicide statistics, but never has there been any correlation shown between suicide and intelligence. Like I said, the overwhelming factor with completed suicides is access to firearms. No intelligence required.
