As it so happens, Kurt Vonnegut did, in his short story “Welcome to the Monkey House.” It takes place in a future where overpopulation has made suicide parlors a necessity. Anyone who wants to go is not just provided a way, but pampered and encouraged.
I like Vonnegut quite a bit, especially when he is musing about the purpose of existing. It is very telling that when he invents a world cruel enough to encourage suicide, he presents it as tyranny to rebel against. All the same, he was a suicidal man for most of his life. He gave me my favorite quote about smoking cigarettes;
“I’m eighty-three and I’ve been smoking since I was eleven. I’m suing the cigarette company because it promised to kill me and it hasn’t.”
Yeah that quote, see, I have never smoked (I know plenty of people who do), and yet I am the one with breathing problems and not them. That’s just how life works, eh? -_-
Corporations/People in debt collections would never allow it -_-
I bet that’s why suicide has been made “illegal.” If you follow the money, that usually explains 99% of the law and rules we have.

Sounds like an interesting story. Maybe one day I’ll read it…
