Why is it you never hear about assholes getting ripped to pieces? The girl in this video seemed like a nice girl, into nature, a conservationist, was 19 or something and just starting out on her music career. Went for a hike and got attacked by coyotes. I mean I know these attacks are random, and not just animal attacks, but things like freak accidents. We hear stories of ppl just being in the wrong place at the wrong time, but somehow it’s never the assholes that die or get bitten or eaten or something. Like why is that???

hmmm, there could be several explanation;
the most obvious is that these things do happen, but no one is sad or remotely upset. “Oh, Dave’s been eaten by squirrels, moving on”
The next idea I had was selection bias. Being mauled to death by wild animals is an issue of access. One has to not only go walking in untamed areas but also have ready access to them. So nature enthusiasts would be at heightened risk for such events.
Meanwhile, many assholes live in cities, which have few untamed areas or wild animals capable of tearing one of them to pieces.
Finally, my observation is that assholes tend to have no capacity for self awareness, and so the activity of taking walks in nature is actively antagonistic to their lifestyle of not caring about anyone or anything other than themselves.
Some combination of those is my guess. Meanwhile, I’ve gone for many hikes in untamed nature, so statistically I suppose perhaps I’m next? Wishful thinking, likely as not.
If I was ripped apart by animals, it would be preferable that they eat all of me, because it’s not going to be pretty to just leave there.
i’m not talking about this specific story and her walking on a trail that loads of ppl have walked on. what about ppl in cities that die all the time? what about an asshole getting hit by a car instead of me? why not a rapist who gets robbed and beaten, vs some innocent guy? you know, stuff like that. somehow the assholes escape these “freak occurences.” (yes i know gangsters kill each other, not talking about that). Like there are all these rapists who hide in society but THEY don’t get bad stuff happen to them. Or shitty ass manipulators, users, gaslighters etc that fuck ppl over. No, usually these ppl have GREAT lives.
there are plenty of ways ppl die or get injured in the city. or have bad things happen to them in the city.
anyhow, i’m tired of seeing shitty ass ppl rewarded in life, and good ppl get mauled or raped.
i disagree with that. there are tons of ppl who hike or walk in nature. lots of good ppl and lots of bad ppl hike. just bc someone hikes doesn’t mean they’re a good person or more likely to be a good person and just bc someone lives in the city or doesn’t like to hike means they’re bad ppl or they’re more likely to be bad ppl.
there are LOTS of rapists who hike. hell, there’s LOADS of stories of men who jog and rape women who are jogging or walking on these trails. just bc someone likes to be out in nature does not make them good ppl or more likely to be good people.
oh btw, murders LOVE nature. these ppl are always in and around the woods, and they know exactly where to bury ppl or dump bodies in rivers and such. or know how animals and bugs can decimate a body and leave nothing but bones behind. they know remote areas where no one goes. these ppl are nature ppl.
there’s also shitty ppl in the suburbs too, so it’s not like ppl in cities = bad and rural ppl = good. that’s too simplistic thinking.

I return to my maybe it is underreported because no one is particularly distressed when horrible things happen to horrible people… I know I probably wouldn’t click on a story that says “awful man torn apart by wild animals”, I’d just think, good for those wild animals, do more of that.
of course I’m morbid and absurd as a defense mechanism for that society is getting substantially more frightening and dangerous. Today I tried to return some mail to a neighbor, and I left it at the curb because TWICE in the last week an innocent bystander was shot for being on someone else’s property. One was a kid who rang the doorbell, and the guy shot him in the head, and again in the arm. Another was a lady who had to turn around in a driveway and the owner came out and shot her to death
so I think the mail system is going to get much worse, because I sure wouldn’t want to knock on doors for a living.
oh but ppl would LOVE to read about stories where bad ppl get their just desserts. it doesn’t get reported bc it doesn’t happen. or i suppose no one knows so and so person is a rapist or something

that whole “you’re on my property” thing is a rural thing. see, rural ppl ain’t no better than city folk. you won’t see that happening in the city bc city folk generally do not have that concept of “you’re on my property and thus i have a right to shoot you” (unless you actually break in into their home).

This is bc idiotic ppl interpret the “stand your ground laws” as “anyone who steps foot on MY property for any reason I can just shoot ’em!”

It’s tempting to suppose there is some sort of sinister power protecting such people, but I don’t believe in actual supernatural forces like that. They make for fun stories though, many folk tales are actually aimed at curbing bad behavior.
The same reason we never see news stories about the good that occurs in society – noone cares. We want and crave blood, death, disaster, especially when it happens to the innocent. I personally wouldn’t be shocked or even slightly fazed by a story of a pedophile being hit by a bus, or a cartel hit man being shot in the street. Well, I guess it would make me chuckle a bit, but the media KNOWS I (we) want to be horrified and petrified by stories of fourth grade children being dragged down highways under speeding gas trucks, or volunteer animal shelter workers being used as target practice in the mass shooting of the week. Now that – that’s good quality news, designed to frighten and sicken. Good people dying = higher viewership = higher ratings = $$$$. Bad people dying = ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ. Who cares.
ppl love seeing bad ppl dying too. i’d tune in. the problem is that most “bad” people aren’t outed as bad yet. like 95% of rapists are not convicted and on some list, most of them are not even known, much less prosecuted and convicted.

There was one I heard that was kind of like that. There was this young dude that ended up getting shot and killed by some people in a car that drove up to and had an argument with him.
Turned out that stupid shit of a kid ran over a mother and her baby on purpose and drove off a while back. He also had poisoned a girl’s drink in high school before that. He went through the revolving doors of the local justice system with a slap on the wrist and then got shot shortly after.
Definitely seems to be an uncommon thing to hear though.

In the grand scheme of things animal attacks like that aren’t too common. Even if a piece of shit gets mauled chances are no one is gonna know they were a piece of shit.
Some youtube channels show plenty of assholes getting absolutely fucked up by cops though.
