I’ve been trying to avoid social media lately as it makes me more aware of how sad my life is, and I typically go on pixiv (Japanese art site but still very easy to navigate as an English speaker) or I go on Mangadex. I don’t know if you’re a fan of art or Japanese media but those sites typically make me happy.
Me and FB have a strained relationship. It doesn’t tend to make me feel good, more like weak and tired.
Youtube is good, but it’s about finding the right stuff. I particularly like science stuff and podcasts. I usually get my other podcasts on Amazon. I recommend Morbid and Behind the Bastards. Oh Murder Mystery Makeup Monday is good, even though I have almost no interest in makeup.
Deviantart is still a pretty big source of comfort, lately I’ve been finding some of the best art I’ve seen in my life.
Just getting down any kind of hole otherwise. Sometimes I get down a European or Asian history hole. Sometimes it’s a super nerdy scifi world, or weird amatuer fiction. I love wikis in general. Or I go out and pirate some super obscure piece of media.
You and I have similar interests then. You should check out Wikisource if you haven’t already, I typically go on there for the public domain short stories. I would’ve suggested piracy websites in my initial comment as well if I had known you were okay with piracy. Have you tried movie-web.app? I’ve found it very helpful when I’m having a hard time looking for a particular movie or series online.
In my leisure time I’m mostly on YouTube or streaming sites…. or I’m playing first-person shooter games…or working on some side projects.
Though I’m going to try to make time for the gym again…but due to noisy neighbors (where I live) I don’t always get a good sleep so I’m usually too tired to do anything more than the basics to keep my life going…seriously planning to move next year and that should solve this problem once and for all.
The sad thing is that I would’ve been fit by now if I didn’t have these problems as I’ve lived here for nearly a year now. Ofc you never know how good or a bad a place is until you actually live there…and there are certain types of living situations that come with these issues.
There’s a good lesson in that…do everything you can to organize your life so you can maximize your full potential…meaning first live in a place where you get peace/quiet, so you get your sleep and feel stronger/healthier…then you can focus on getting yourself in shape, taking courses you need to get a better job or work on projects that increase your income.
I wouldn’t be suicidal if my life went in the right direction years ago. I’m not afraid of some pain, suffering and hard work, so long as there is a payoff at the end of it all. What I don’t like is to waste my life on something that’ll never lead to any rewards and I’m suffering for nothing.
Hope springs eternal as they say. You also don’t want to give in to your bad situation either…though today you might live in a bad place, it’s not forever unless you do nothing to change it. Ultimately if we are able to change our situation, then we should do everything in our power to do so and eventually you’ll at least get close to the life you always wanted.
