Things like THIS is why I no longer believe in humans or humanity. I mean, also based on my WHOLE life of being screwed. I used to be super sweet and nice, and genuinely would do anything to help ppl, and did, but no more. Not when you just get shit thrown in your face. Thank goodness I was never THIS nice. I would NEVER donate one of my kidneys. Oh hell no.

“That sounds like a personal problem”
I have lost count the amount of times I have heard that in my professional career, when I had problems, but when the company had issues, they cut me loose at their earliest convenience
We live in a crazy world where anything is possible and can happen.
Likewise Eternal, maybe I’d do it for the only sister I like (the other one is a btch) but no one else really.
I also heard one’s health can decline after donating…so even then it’s nearly not worth it.
Nobody should be this stupid and altruistic in this nasty world we live in.
doing it for a loved one or loved family member is understandable- and yes- the health of the donor definitely suffers. the thing is, ppl who donate tend to be young, in their 20s, 30s- but when you turn mid 40s, 50s- that’s when ppl NEED their 2nd set of organs. i’ve watched documentaries- the donor’s health ALWAYS suffers in the long term. but we never hear about it bc it’s always pushed to us to “donate” and be “altruistic” and there are no consequences and all that crap. it’s bullshit.
even if you’re super healthy and in great condition, you’re gonna need that 2nd kidney at some point. how do you think some ppl live to their 80s and 90s? if they donated their kidneys, they wouldn’t have lived that long. maybe 60s or 70s at best. it would be nice if they had a study that showed at what age donors start having health problems and at what age they usually die. 100% they die sooner than if they hadn’t given up an organ.

>>uhm, you shouldn’t blame the victim. she was too good of a person to donate her kidney.
i USED to be THAT fucking naive and trusting and altruistic at one time in my life- when I was younger and before ppl took advantage of my niceness and now i’ve turned hard and bitter.
when i was younger, i couldn’t help being super altruistic and caring- in fact i HATED it. by the time i was in my 20s, i knew it was a bad thing to be so super kind to ppl, but it wasn’t something i could change. all through my childhood, teens, and 20s. believe me, i even bought books and so tried HARD to learn how to “be mean” and i couldn’t fucking do it.
at least not till my 30s. mid 30s was when i kept getting screwed over and over again until i eventually snapped and became jaded and hateful of ppl. now i can easily say “no” or “fuck you.” but when i was <30, i couldn't. i was literally one of the sweetest and nicest ppl back then.
so we shouldn't blame this lady for "being an idiot" and donating her organ to her boss. also, it appears that the manager had her sights on this lady since day1 and "groomed" / gaslit her to get her to eventually to agree to it. and it totally can happen. a genuinely good person who hears "you can easily save my life, but if you don't donate a kidney, I will die and my death will be on YOUR conscience…" will feel guilty and fall for it. Based on what I read/watched of her story, sounds like that's what this evil manager did. And the lady got suckered.
you can bet this lady is no longer so altruistic after what the manager did. all it takes is to be fucked over hard ONCE by someone and all the niceness and goodness dries up. trust me, she’s learned her lesson. you can tell by some of her interviews if you watch a few clips.
“How many donated organs go unused?
About 20 percent of organs obtained from deceased donors wind up going unused, often due to logistical or bureaucratic challenges. There is little accountability and transparency in the organ donation process, which means that many usable organs are declined.”

>>Damn, 20% is A LOT of organs to go to waste. what incompetence. there’s no excuse in the age of computers/AI. it’s not hard to match the donors to the recipients if you’ve got the right computer algorithm. and yes, it says the issues are due to “logistical or bureaucratic challenges.”
there are so many issues with body and organ donation,
I won’t touch any of it, whatever marginal benefit it might have been to a stranger isn’t worth the trauma it would put my family through
now I’d do it for a family member, but most of my family is healthier than me
yes, many issues. the point of the post is- there is no point being nice and altruistic. all that gets you is a smack in the face. -_-
