I wish more people would think before procreating. The younger generation (Z, Alpha) are finally getting it- but people in MY generation and older- holy cow- the default was always popping out children left and right because “it’s what you’re supposed to do.” -_-

There’s only one part of parenthood I really could do without, personally; early childhood. You talk to some parents and they hang the moon on it but TBH, it’s to be put up with.
All these other things? They come with the territory of inviting another human being into your life. I’m totally okay with the decision someone wants to make to not have children, I support it. I wish more people would make it if they had that kind of self awareness.
It’s just, if I can, I’ll have kids. They don’t even necessarily have to be my biological children. Yet I might go for artificial insemination, or other alternative options before I go for adoption, because I’d like to have my own kids, is that selfish?
I’ve been thinking about it for a long time, and it has everything to do with that I’ve spent most of my life looking after kids, and that I do believe in the future I can leave my kid.
I have a large collection of useable skills that I can teach them, and I think that’s what the next generation, the one that my kid is going to belong to is going to need. This current way things are, where kids go out into the world and have to make their own way, it isn’t working. I certainly learned that the hard way.
The only reason I have succeeded are skills I learned from my granddad and other adults I had in my life growing up. Heck, if it weren’t for my dad, I wouldn’t be who I am today. So, even screwed up as I am, I think I could do it.
I guess I’m atypical, lucky. You’re definitely right that lots of parents shit the bed when it comes to parenting. I just got a lot of years left, plenty of time to look after a few kids. I’d like a grandkid, just one or two before I die. That’d be nice, but not required.
Parenting can be nice, but it can also be hell. I’ve seen both sides of it. I know what factors make it both.
I didn’t watch the video because I’m the choir. Just wanted to say I totally agree.
Interesting news out of Japan today: Last year saw a population deficit of nearly 1 million. Low birth rates, currently at nearly 100 year lows. Japan’s conservative government is of course calling it a “crisis” but I call it intelligence and freedom. People are breaking from the brainless baby machine.
In related news, Japan has consistently showed itself as one of the most educated and intelligent cultures with an average IQ of about 107. Compare this to countries low education (always overpopulated and impoverished) and the link is clear.
I’m not even that fucking smart but I know not to spawn in this oil fire of a world. Might adopt and save a kid one day, but I shall not create life in this shitheap.
What’s the collective IQ of USA? I doubt it is even 100 given the sheer # of morons in our country.
USA’s IQ is 98.
lmao yeah we couldn’t even crack 100
WOW- a 9pt difference is HUGE. I don’t think ppl realize just how large 9pts is.
underpopulation is a “crisis” because they need young ppl to care for the old. There’s reports of them hiring overseas workers, taking their passports, and kidnapping them- keeping them as essentially slaves to work for low wages they cannot escape. this practice is also done in the Middle East- countries that import workers.
This is why ppl keep breeding- the cycle of life doesn’t work if there’s no one to take care of the old.
I think you’re right about that, especially since Japan has a dark history about that… if you can believe the movies. There was a famous Japanese film in the 80s called The Ballad of Narayama about a mountain where old people got dumped, or in some cases pushed off cliffs, because they were too much of a drain on families. It’s total fiction but there must be some truth behind it.
The thing is, it’s equally selfish & disgusting to sprout babies just because you want someone to wipe your ass and feed you soup when you’re old. I mean jeez, talk about being born a slave.
In America we just dump our old people in nursing homes, which is another horror story.
Really the only solution is to allow dignified physician assisted suicide. Old people get to go in peace, young people aren’t cursed with the burden, and maybe we can get away from the unnecessary cycle of creating babies like an assembly line.
There’s documentaries about Japanese companies importing and then kidnapping the low-wage unskilled workers. They take their Visa’s so they can’t leave, and they really go to the cops bc they either can’t speak the language or the cops don’t care to do anything if you’re deemed beneath them (ie not Japanese and not from a white country). Many of them are the poor coming from China or SE Asia seeking work to bring money home. But once they get there, their passports get taken, then they immediately get into debt that they need to pay off (they charge them insane $$ for housing), so they can never pay off what they “owe.” It’s really disgusting when you watch the documentaries. Same shit happens in the Middle East.
I’m sure old ppl have been pushed off cliffs. There’s a whole history on how previous generations in the past have just left the old or sick to die- worldwide. They get taken to outside the outskirts of towns, where they literally have built huts for old ppl to just slowly die of starvation and water. I forget which group of ppl did that in that documentary, but I’m sure this was practiced worldwide.

–That isn’t going to happen bc it affects the bottom line of soulless evil corporations. The rich assholes in charge lose money if ppl die, don’t pay off their debts, stop buying, stop pumping out babies, etc. They NEED this cycle to keep going, so it will. Who do you think is behind all this anti-suicide, anti-assisted suicide crap? I 100% bet you it’s evil corporations backing and funding religious and anti-abortion groups.
If assisted suicide was allowed, and ppl can legally go peacefully and quickly, trust me, all these millions of ppl in debt are gonna just off themselves. Corporations aren’t going to allow that.
