In the US, we have been propagandized by greedy corporations and religious organizations to view suicide as a sin, as something evil or selfish. Much profit is to be made off of people’s suffering. Sad? Why, just take some happy pills for the rest of your life! Psychiatric pharmaceuticals is a TRILLION dollar industry.
But in other countries, like Japan for example, “The general attitude toward suicide has been termed “tolerant”, and in many occasions Japanese society sees suicide as a morally responsible action.”
We would do SO much better if suicide or depression wasn’t so stigmatized. It’s crazy how we all have to feign happiness when we’re out in public, hiding our depression like it’s a crime to be sad. THAT is fucked up.

I don’t know if Japan is a good example. Saying they tolerate suicide just seems like they don’t want to deal with a problem.
as opposed to the US where we aren’t even allowed to type “Suicide” on social media or else our posts and comments get removed? You can’t even search for suicide on google anymore and now have to use stupid words like “unalived,” bc changing the word clearly gets rid of the problem.
It’s not like the USA acknowledges the problem. I’m not saying we should use Japan as an example- but they do at least acknowledge there IS a problem and they aren’t vilifying suicide the way it is done here in the USA.
I mean Canada is supposed to have state sanctioned suicide, one of the first things I want to do when I get my passport is to go to Canada. I’m thinking about getting Canadian duel citizenship for a lot of reasons, their attitude towards suicide is just one of them.
It has flaws though, I’ve heard that some people who don’t want anything to do with it get it suggested to them.
I think it’s a major side effect of being the most educated country on the planet, being less concerned with sin. Simple morality like that is what is expected out of small children, the whole idea of having to follow a set of rules is something designed for very emotionally and intellectually immature people. Educated people can understand nuance. People who have actually read philosophy and spent some time in religious/spiritual development can understand that someone sick enough to be unable to resist suicide is going to be special circumstances…. Any afterlife is going to have to consider those circumstances if there were one….. Frankly, there probably isn’t one, but certainty is something that emotionally immature people need.
So education and spiritual development turn you into this thing that doesn’t judge as much, and kind of a nihilist/existentialist towards the whole thing that doesn’t respect the concept of sin. If people like me were evangelical we would steamroll these values through society and force our values down the throats of everyone else and conquer the country by force.
I think that may be what’s necessary, I sure wish I had the heart to do it. Sin is a stupid fucking concept, it leads you to build a 900 foot gold skyscraper by threatening to have God kill you, then you fly off to your 6 million dollar mansion and leave an ugly 6 story tall concrete skyscraper that can’t be demolished and your alcoholic son to run your Christian University……..
I’ll never understand pentecostals
religion is a tool to control ppl- whether it’s christianity, catholism, judaism, muslims, pentecostals, etc. it’s also used by the rich to subjugate the poor, to keep us in line and keep us from revolting with the “hope” of a great afterlife. and ppl buy into that.
I never understood the amount of fundraising that a lot of those “churches” do that clearly goes to an uber rich “pastor” for their own purposes that claim it’s God’s will and what not. I honestly despise that shit.
Never liked any of that shit. I’ve seen that only done right in very few instances where fundraising isn’t forced but just mentioned briefly & benefits the congregation and the people who actually are part of it…
That being said, we all sin in some way shape or form, every day, all the time, since perfection in human beings is impossible.
I don’t think we should give up though. It’s definitely harder for people like us to get through. Our brains are proven to be wired differently in certain ways, despite how much some people use it as a full on excuse and have make neurodivergence just seem like a trend instead of an actual symptom of a bigger problem.
I don’t like the taboos of having to get around talking/educating people about said topics to the point where you can’t say suicide or k*ll or r*pe or anything like that (I’m doing this in case it censors it here too).
I’ve been thinking this for a long time at this point, and I’m not sure how controversial this will be but I’m going to say it: The United States, after years of having pro LGBT+ propoganda and having a specific way of thinking being absolutely everywhere and shoved down everyone’s throats by people who’s entire identities are wrapped up in pronoun creation/shaming; who are in such a priviledged place in life that they feel they have nothing better to do than dictating what they feel should be in entertainment, escapism, and on social media; and who shut down any alternative opinions or anyone who thinks the slightest bit differently from them, are now seeing an overcorrection happening in real time. I think that is the big problem right now. People are being brazen and brave to say some dense, inconsiderate, and downright disgusting things because we have a felon, “businessman”, and utter disgrace of a president, who got elected twice for some ungodly reason and is fucking with the goverment and making shit worse for everyone who isn’t rich and or white.
I think the government and most other governments like Canada for example want people to end their lives. Thats why they flood our streets with fentanyl and have assisted suicide. They give out needles and such and I have even heard some government affiliated groups are giving out Fentanyl in Portland Oregon. I think they are hiding the death rate and MSM is a joke. I don’t like Democrats or Republicans. Two wings on the same corrupt government bird. No one cares for the poor and you have all these greedy prosperity churches stealing the money that would have actually helped the poor and destitute. Instead they spend it on mansions and lear jets. Im sick of it. Jesus was poor and homeless. I hate this world I live in more everyday now.
USA runs on vulture capitalism- they want us poor, sick and in debt. They do not want us healthy or dead- no money to be made in both cases. So tired, sick and poor (but alive) is how they want us.
I don’t know but I think TPTB or illuminate or whatever you want to call them are into eugenics and they want the earths population down to 500 Million. It was on the Georgia guidestones. Thats why they are full steam ahead with AI and robots. They really don’t need us anymore.
Yes i agree, it’s a sick sick world, and that’s a large chunk of why I’m depressed about life. Life is not good, or peachy or rosy. Life is full of injustice and corruption and just plain ass shit if you happen to be born poor or with bad parents or without the right connections.
