People want credit just for showing up. They want credit for being sympathetic and what they determine is helpful. They want to be showered with praise and award for taking two lazy seconds out of their day to give half-assed advice about something they do not understand, with someone they have not spoken to for more than two seconds.

We’ve all been there, haven’t we? People around us don’t understand and don’t care to. It’s too uncomfortable for them to ask the hard questions to try and understand why we see the world the way we do. They all just want us to be normal and function. How fake and plastic everything is? I was on YouTube, and there was this “Humans of Earth Day” promotion. I didn’t see people doing things for their community and helping create sustainability. I saw people selling “sustainable” products (=expensive), showing off about fooling people with plant based meat alternatives, and bragging about how Green and Vegan they are. I felt so frustrated and demoralized. This is constant. The Internet has made us all plastic. We don’t DO anything. We just compete for attention.
