Just wondering if anyone else here has insomnia like I do.
Most nights I can’t fall asleep until 3 or 4 am. And throughtout the night, or should I say morning, I wake up constantly.
I take a sleeping pill (natural sleeping aid; not prescription or otherwise) every night too. I’ve been taking them since I was a young teenager. Clearly they don’t work, but I take it anyway, just cause.
I know stress has something to do with it. And stress can also affect your dreams. I have had some really weird, out there, Twilight Zone-type dreams.
Anywho..

A lot of caffeine used to keep me awake. Since I switched to decaff I haven’t had any problems sleeping and the sleep I get is a lot more refreshing. Also no heart palpitations and teethgrinding.
Sometimes I feel like I’m high on caffeine, but I’m not. I never drink coffee or soda with caffeine in it.
Yep! That’s me! I used to be a very sound, deep sleeper, but for the past year and a half or so I’ve been very jittery in my sleep; I’ll wake up randomly, out of breath, uncomfortable, or just having trouble staying asleep in general. As for falling asleep I usually fall asleep around 2 to 4 ish. 2 on good days, rarely anytime before that.
I have very strange and disturbing dreams. Some are very lucid and vivid. I guess this also contributes to my poor sleeping patterns.
Jess.ins, are we cut from the same cloth or what? That’s exactly my sleeping pattern.
It’s gotten worse the past couple of years. Before I could always count on sleeping the whole night through, just falling to sleep on time was the problem. Oy.
lol! At least now we know we’re not the only ones who wake up sweating at nights dreading going back to sleep again. I used to love to sleep, I suppose everyone does, it’s when your body “regenerates” and everything right? Well for me it’s like I lose energy when I sleep. i wake up feeling lethargic and depending on the day even depressed. It’s horrible -__- i say it’s the anxiety. It’s always all the anxiety.
Fuck the anxiety -__- ugh.
Haha, yeah. I’m not the only one with crazy anxiety and weird ass dreams. I almost want to be happy about that, but then I’m like, shit I have to go through that tonight. Our bodies/brains don’t properly regenerate, and that makes it worse. We can’t win! I never wake up feeling rested either. It sucks. Agreed, fuck anxiety.
I don’t sleep well.for about 15 years i’ve been living on 2 hours a night sleep, and a lot of the time 6 days without anything
Hello insomnia club. I have found that I don’t get good sleep unless I have had my fill of both physical and mental stimulation – I need to be both physically and mentally tired to sleep. So excercise is important as well as mental stimuli to prepare you for sleep.
“So excercise is important as well as mental stimuli to prepare you for sleep.”
If mental torture counted exercise I would sleep for the rest of my life.
Sorry – as exercise.
Their can be a bit more to it than that one-day.
I think most sleep problems are stress related. In my case anyway
@causeway – there is a big difference between excercise and stress.
@noom – yes sleep disorders are stress related. Stress of often a sympton of lack of adequate stimuli, causing the mind to’ create problems within itself as a way of generating stimuli. so yes i believe stress can be relieve is you find a decent and constructive and adequate stimuli to keep the brain engaged in a constructive way
@noom, oh my god, how do you survive on such little sleep per week? Do you ever feel like you are going to pass out by the end of the week from not sleeping?
@one_day, So what will stimulate my brain so that I can sleep well? I already exercise, and that doesn’t seem to be working in itself. So that leaves my brain. And boy does it go wild at night. I think of all sorts of crazy shit. I sort of figured stress was the cause.
@causeway, “If mental torture counted as exercise I woud sleep for the rest of my life.” Haha I agree.
It’s really up to you to work out for yourself what stimuli your brain needs/wants. Personally, I find I sleep great when I travel, because when travelling, I am constantly seeing new things, meeting to new people, and that is what I need to stimulate my brain… but everyone craves different kind of stimuli. Learn a new language? read the history of evolution?

I feel brain dead most of the time,it really affects mental functioning.I’m begining to think it down to some permanent physical damage to my brain chemistry.
Even my Doctor is saying start praying cos you’ve tried everything else and that’s all you got left is blind faith.Unfortunately,I’m not religious,so does than mean death is the only option.Unless a hot woman can come and save me lol.
