No, seriously, instead of thinking of it as running away FROM somewhere, think of it as running TO somewhere. And how you’re gonna survive in that place.
I’ve run away several times, only to end up in a foreign place with no money, no shelter, no transport, no food and no friends.
I have also been offered a place to sleep by fellow travellers, though.
If you can, run away with someone else, rather than alone.
I’m not big on tips for hitchiking, making a living and getting to know new people. Someone else will have to help you there.
I got a small one man tent, a portable camp stove (which burns twigs), a thermal blanket and a fishing rod; and I was going to take off to a remote location and just try to live as a hobo. I’m still considering it.
First, how old are you? And what area are you from?
Muspelhum is right. Especially about running awaay with someoone instead of alone. It would definitely be better to have someone with you. Both for protection and companionship. Hell, if you have one, take your dog.
I don’t know the full extent of your situation, so I can’t say for sure whether or not running away is the smart thing to do. Would you mind sharing why you want to run away?

Forrest Gump: “I just felt like running”.
Nike: Just do it.

Good luck.
P.S. Why?
