many people need a loving partner, to be told they matter and accepted as they are
some may see this need as a drawback, but it in my opinion is a good thing: they still have some hope left, hope in the fact life will give them that special person
sometimes, hope can be enough to keep you going
I’m not sure that I care if I matter to someone .. all I know is I need some money to escape my current situation
plus, money equals freedom these days

The obsession that society has about everyone needing to partner up and reproduce just baffles me. That said, this is coming from someone that fell for this trap, and ended up committing themselves at a very young age and has recently come to the conclusion that through doing this, I have – or am about to – needlessly ruin several lives. Had I not bought into this dogma, the people in question would no doubt be considerably happier with their lot.
ever since I grew out of adolescence, I’ve been feeling like marriage is a trap and that many get married for the wrong reasons (fear of being single and lonely by a certain age, family or societal pressure, it’s reassuring to do what everybody else does etc)
when it comes to consensual marriage, it must take an incredible amount of faith in the other to take that step, something my suspicious self can’t afford
Biology more than society
marriage has more to do with biology than society ? I can’t agree with that
Marriage seems pretty awful to me…but I do believe that everybody needs to kind of “belong” to somebody. And everybody needs unconditional love. So you’re not wrong to desire that, it’s human nature. We’re all supposed to have a group (kinda like what’s here, I guess)…many people…not just 1.
Google “animals that mate for life”. Wolves do it, so do swans. You don’t have to stand in front of a preacher, your family & friends, and say “I Do” to be with the one that you want to spend your life with. Marriage is another BS invention that you don’t have to subscribe to.
“Love is blind. Marriage opens your eyes”.
hey lucy .. I wonder if there’s such a thing as wearing the pants with animals
Hehe. Each gender has its own role. It seems to work better with animals than it does with humans.
Hi truthbetold; I overlooked the greeting at the beginning, sorry. Are you still considering going to Brazil? If you’re really gonna off yourself you should at least have one last big adventure before you go. That’s just my humble opinion bro.
Money may equal freedom, but it’s not freedom that you’re lacking…it’s inspiration. With inspiration, you can find adventure in your own back yard. Love, war, hate, fulfillment, gratification, success, ambition, pride, anything you can think of that has been obtained, was driven by some kind of inspiration.
Most people don’t know what truly inspires them, because they take what society promotes, at face value. Explore your true feelings. Learn what REALLY gratifies you, what brings you a sense of belonging. Never stop exploring. Block out society’s masses and find what turn YOU on.
At one time, I had 82,000 dollars in a bank account. Most of that time of my life, I was miserable. I’ve found the most inspiration from watching the tide crash during “high tide” on the coast of Myrtle Beach. Not more than twenty dollars in my pocket. Me and three other guys, shared a two bedroom apt. about 2 blocks from the surf and I walked down to the beach every night after work. We lived simple and I did a lot of exploring and had a lot of discovery in those years.
I now live in N.C., about a mile from a decent sized downtown area. I live with room-mates, we all have 50cc scooters and we share a communal car for transportation. The overhead of our lives is very, very inexpensive. We have lots of social gatherings. We have many, many friends. Most of them drive nice vehicles and live in expensive homes, but would jump at the opportunity to move into our household. We’ve tried explaining that they could make their own low cost, home and have lots of free time and resources to party or travel or whatever, but they seem fearful of taking the steps to start such a venture.
Society will tell you that you need a thirty year mortgage, a new car, a trophy wife and 2.5 kids to be “successful”, but how many of those people do you see that are truly happy. The media broadcasts the images and stories of “success”, because they are funded by people who profit from your expenses.
Last summer, my room-mates and I pooled our money together and bought a time share in Orlando. We each pay eight dollars a month and we have a five star hotel room to vacation in one week out of every year for as long as we want.
Things don’t have to be as complicated as you think. You just have to find people to share your expenses and your life with. It’s more fun anyway.
This is a picture of the Hotel, to give you an idea of what I’m talking about:

it sure does .. observing animals makes me wonder what good is a sophisticated brain for, when the majority of people seem to go through life dealing with things as they’re taught / told to
Do you think any animals wonder about an afterlife? Do animals wonder what their purpose is? Animals eat, sleep, fuck & fight. They live in the moment. They’re no better or worse than humans. They might possibly be better because they don’t seem to worry about the future.
If reincarnation is real I’d like to come back as a shark.
@lucy4: The four key drivers you mentioned sound an awful lot like many of the people I went to school with, as well as the collective mindset of the neighbourhood in which I was brought up. This may explain why I hold poor white trash in deep contempt; I have nothing in common with them and suffered at the hands of them for many years.
@lucy as a megalodon ? that’d be terrrrrriiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiffiiiiiiiiiiiiiicccccccc
and I know, lucky bastards .. reminds me of the period I felt serene, I could shut off my mind and enjoy being in the moment
@ sansesperer; I hear you. Are humans anything more than animals with a sightly evolved brain?
@lucy: Some are more evolved than others.
@ sansesperer; Ok. Others don’t matter. All that matters is you. I hate sounding like a hippy, or a narcissist….but you hafta do what’s right for you.
People always want the only thing they don’t have which is why they often ask ‘what if?’. Had you experienced a different environment you would not be able to make the comparison.
People that are wealthy would trade places with someone who had a loving family, Someone with a family would like more money, a girl who is trying to lose weight wants to be thin. The attractive thin girl would like to be less intellectually challenged and the smart girl probably ended up on a suicide forum wishing she had a family that cared. It’s is rare to find a person who has everything they want in life. It’s easy to blame the cards you were dealt, your environment. There are lots of people from underprivileged backgrounds who have gone on to achieve great success because they have the underlying ability and make their own luck.
Goldikova, three times breeders cup heroine never used to worry about how the race was run, what the other horses were doing or suffering interference in running. Her rivals were often left trailing in her wake.
I can agree w/ people always wanting the one thing they don’t have .. sometimes, it even turns into obsession and oblivion to what they already have
it’s not really a change of circumstances or wealth that I want, it’s just I’d love to have some money to travel a bit .. before going through with suicide
I really wish I only hated my life as it is now, but I actually dislike the experience of life as a human
It is common within the bat world for female bats to perform fellatio on male bats. The Chinese Short Nosed Fruit Bat (Cynopterus Sphinx) engages in this activity. Fellatio by fruit bats prolongs copulaton time. It’s about propagation of the species. We could all learn something from bats.
Nature is beautiful, isn’t it?
I mean needing a partner
