i have opened up to a few people about my suicidal thoughts, they tell me im being selfish. am i the selfish one or is it them? i am suffering and it just gets worse everyday. Â they dont care that i am in pain. if you see a dying dog on the side of the street are you going to watch it slowly die or put it out of its misery?

I would take him to the vets.
What if the dog was too messed up beyond repair?
The problem, Duke, is that the vet is quite likely to put the “dying dog” down – which is the point lisap is making.
I guess the only solution is not to compare ourselves to animals in that way.
I’d rather a vet do it humanely … what should one do? find something “handy” … like a hammer or wrench? I’m with Duke on that
medic dawg
I meant to get him fixed up. The same way that people get taken to the hospital when involved in RTA’s. Every effort is made to save their lives. If nothing can be done then the outcome is inevitable. That analogy doesn’t apply to you because you haven’t been hit by a car.
I wasn’t disagreeing with the idea of taking the dog to the vet. I would do precisely that.
I was simply saying in response to lisap that it’s best not to make the comparison between how we treat animals and people.
If the dog pulled through I would celebrate like Denis Taylor in the 85 final.
LOL
By the way, Duke – I wasn’t mocking you on that other thread. I was just showing you that someone else knew about Dennis Taylor and snooker – a lot of people might be too young or not really know anything about Snooker (especially our American cousins).
I guess that’s when some smileys would come in handy on here – it would let people know when you’re joking or being light hearted.
The ‘selfish’ response seems to be the default position of people that don’t understand what it’s like to be where you are. It’s their clumsy and misguided attempt to try and help. Given that this seems to be a typical first response from many when a suicidal friend or loved one shares their feelings, is it any wonder that those in our position are so reluctant to talk?
