Lost Margaret, you’ve described my life history succinctly, too. Is it also true for you that no matter what persona you assume (following the counsel of countless social sages) the results are the same? No matter how long it takes, like a dog sniffing out rotting meat hidden under a cumbersome credenza, they always realize we’re broken–or simply that we’re not what they like/want/need.
Makes it very challenging to continue trying to reach out, no?
That’s exactly what it is. And no matter how I try not to act “broken,” people sense it and leave. It hurts. I wish someone could accept the broken me. And, yes, each rejection makes it harder to reach out and risk the same eventual result.
