We live in the age of measurement. Everything we do: how we look, number of friends, products we buy is, performance reviews etc… measured and quantified.
Measurement attempts to make the subjective experience objective, because being objective we think it can be controlled and made the same for everyone. (If you can make a experience the same for everyone or the expectation that it be the same its much easyer to sell stuff)
One of the problems is that the units of measurer for subjective experience aren’t standardized and are easily manipulated.
It’s no wonder people feel less then when measuring everything requires a constant comparison to a constantly changing unit of measure! How can anyone measure up!
By asking the question “Will I make it if I try?†you’re asking others to define your unit of measurement for success.
This does not usually end well.
You may find it more helpful to define the task you wish to accomplish, list achievable/reasonable goals, and get at it.
Enjoy your process, celebrate success and failures along the way, learn from the struggles and challenges and you will continue to grow.
As you learn better do better who could ask for more?
If you mean by ‘try’ that you’re going to try to improve your life and make your life better, then yes you will make it. However, if by ‘try’ you mean try a suicide method, then there’s a chance that you will live and a chance that you will die. It’s all about probabilities I suppose.
If you try to kill yourself will you succeed?
Statically no
It took me a long time to realise that no matter how thought out the plans I made I was never going to be able to carry them out.
Eventually I got angry enough to stop the foolishness of focusing my attention on something that wasn’t going to happen. The fact is a part of me liked the fantasy but eventually I realized that much of my depression was about being depressed. Which is just pointless.
I still have suicidal thoughts but no longer waste my time dwelling on them.
There will always be people smarter than you and more dense than you. Prettier and uglier. Funner and less funny. More money and poorer. You name it – we are all somewhere in the middle.

Yeah.
Make WHAT? And if you try WHAT?
Will I make it if I try?

Is that so bad?
