Is there really a point to any of the shit we do? It all seems so meaningless and empty. I don’t want the stupid American dream. I just want to enjoy my life, but that won’t happen. Not in this world. It really does suck.
The point is to enjoy life with family & friends. The problem is when you can’t enjoy life because of a chronic mental or physical disease. I have serious mental issues so I can’t enjoy life. Therefore I’m going to end my life as soon as I can get a painless full-proof method.
You don’t have to want the American dream. Western culture is all about always wanting something new, always working towards a goal. Ironic how old eastern religions were all about the elimination of desires, that desire was the cause of all suffering, and true happiness was about just being happy with the way things are right now.
It’s not “easy” to be happy in this world since it is programmed for everyone to be interested in the meaningless and empty stuff, but I wouldn’t say it’s impossible. You can choose not to play the game if you don’t want to. You’ll have to be creative. You’ll have to figure out how to at least make enough money to survive without necessarily having to take part in the soul crushing rat race. If you’re willing to accept the bare minimum of food and shelter and not having all the new fancy shiny things, then you don’t have to pursue the American dream way of thinking if you don’t want to. That’s an entire system about constantly chasing happiness and dying before you ever really find it. Choose to just be happy with simpler things but there are sacrifices that come with that. If you’re okay without 500 TV channels and the newest cellphone and constant internet access then you can save a lot of money and not have to run around doing all the meaningless stuff 40 hours each week just to pay bills.
