Death is not a valid purpose. The reality is that we are all born to live, but quite a lot of us never get to do so, before we face our inevitable deaths.
The reason things live, is “to live.” Life is its own reason, its own purpose, its own self-justification.
Things are born to live, they live to live, and they die to die. Death doesn’t really have a “purpose” either. It’s just a flaw in mortality. It’s just something that happens because we haven’t figured out how to stop it from happening, because our organic material eventually destabilizes to the point of non-sustainability.
