I would just like to know about any songs that just change your opinion or decision of something.
Have you ever been so built up with frustration and other emotions and then as soon as you hear a certain song or poem, you just instantly change and start to calm down or approach the subject/event differently?
If so, Please just share some songs or something. I’m interested in what people think of their music

Anything by Sebastian Botch.. Very powerful influence for me.
Great post!
Sun Caged – Ashes to Earn, and Afraid to Fly do it for me.
AWESOME topic, I hope everyone chimes in.
I briefly (and unsuccessfully) worked in the music biz, and I always wondered if songs had any real social impact, or if they were just something people listen to in the background.
I can’t say any particular song ever changed me. But there have been a few that have helped me along.
If I ever needed an energy boost I would listen to Queen “Keep Yourself Alive”. Freddy Mercury was so full of life. Until he died.
<3 Queen – Don't Stop Me Now, and Mustapha 😀
Ellie Goulding- lights
Tantric- Chasing After
Van halen – dreams
If we hold on together – diana ross (land before time ending)
There are probably more but I would say these songs have helped me when I was feeling extremely on edge…
Song do indeed have a social impact. They influence trends and help push the agenda.People mindlessly focus on and worship these celebrities and when they say something is “cool and acceptable” people go along with it
I thought of this earlier, and for whatever reason, out of all the songs i’ve really liked, Slipknot – “Before I Forget” jumped out at me.
“I am a world, before i am a man.
I was a creature before i could stand.
I will remember before i forget…”
Also, in a different direction, when i’m furious and enraged and flowing with hatred, or when i want to feel that burning sense of aggression and disgust, i really like Slayer – “Exile.”
But when i need to calm down and sooth my inflamed nerves and pressured mind, i like Tool – “Disposition.”
And a new Deftones song, whose name i don’t recall…
If there is ever a time in your life where you happen to suffer the misfortune of considering whether it’s really appropriate to get your groove on, listen to Boogie Wonderland – Earth, Wind & Fire. That’ll put you right.
“If there is ever a time in your life where you happen to suffer the misfortune of considering whether it’s really appropriate to get your groove on”
LOL Because that’s the cosmic question on all our minds every morning of every day hahaha
As a melancholic and disillusioned youth, I used to continuously re-play ‘Asleep’ by The Smiths, and it perfectly captured my state of mind. Another was ‘Mad World,’from Tears for Fears.
I realize this isn’t helpful.
Okay, well, when I want to cheer myself, sometimes I listen to ‘Safety Dance’ by Men Without Hats. It’s so buoyant and infectious that my mood can’t help but lighten somewhat.

There’s is something very wrong with the world. People just aren’t groovy enough and it’s sad really. I try and help but they are just mean and don’t appreciate it which, explains a lot:
Sister Sledge – He’s The Greatest Dancer
Blondie – Heart of Glass
Indeep- Last Night A DJ Saved My Life
One day, you will thank me.
Did i forget to mention i also like some James Brown? (i mean, come on, who doesn’t…)
And Heart… and a bunch of other stuff.
Someone should mention Soundgarden. There we go.
Hmm… I know it might sound strange, but Bob Dylan’s Motorpsycho Nightmare is brilliant, imo.
The problem is more severe than I thought. If anyone has ever been clay pigeon shooting, i can think of something to do with all those Metalica/Marylin Manson CD’s. Blast them out the sky with this:
Chic – Le Freak
If that fails and if, even the mighty Sister Sledge…. Donna Summer, KC and The Sunshine Band can’t save you…
Your fucked
Bob Marley – Running Away
This sums how I feel about myself perfectly.
Roni Size ft Beverly Knight – No More
“No, no more
Put it, put it down
Too many go before they’re grown
Yeah
No, no more, put it, put it down You only reap what you have sown
No more
Families torn apart
No more
Tragedies in the heart of
This home, this street, this town No more, no more”
John Lennon – Imagine
Everyone on this site must relate to this. If you look carefully, you’ll see the references in your posts. I think that’s why it’s timeless.
I respect Bob Dylan as an artist and person. He’s a living legend who’s music changed lives.
The Stranglers – Something Better Change, many times I’ve thought about going into work with an IPod and speakers and just miming the words to this song.
^
The Smiths – Heaven Knows I’m Miserable is how I feel when I’m at work.
Well, I’ve been going through most of these songs, and I have to admit to all of you, you’ve got some pretty good taste in music and opinions on society and their fucked up ways.
Beautiful by POD
The lyrics mean a great deal to me and it doesn’t necessarily calm me down but it does help in changing my mind for the time being.
