Yeah, I have no idea about anime, so I shall attempt to address the OP instead.
I think you need to ask yourself why you want THEM to be YOURS to begin with. Are they worth the effort? Do they acknowledge you to begin with? Would a friendship/relationship be mutually beneficial to you both? Or perhaps it’s more a case of wanting what you can’t have due to any number of reasons.
In a more broad sense: I think we are afraid to lose this slight connection we share with individuals in our lives. What’s dangerous is when you want/start to know someone a lot better to the point where you think of them on a daily basis. The fact they are not YOURS to begin with just makes the damage worse, wouldn’t you agree?
So, maybe it’s better to not give a hoot and just…carry on, yeah?
Who was this thread for, why do you feel like they don’t love you in return, and where do you go to buy a human being in this day and age? I’d like a slave. That’d be sweet and make my life much easier.
Well, what if the slave were an android with constraints on it’s ability to expand its consciousness beyond that of a mere servant? Would that be ethical? Sheesh, the world really has changed. I remember when you could go to any corner store and buy a slave or two for a quarter, then make them draw your carriage home (unless you had a horse or something, but slaves were cheaper).
Haha, oh damn. Man, that’s way above my pay grade. Well, you’d be fine unless it did a “A3-21” or “EDI” for that matter and somehow rebelled against you. Although the consciousness constraints may well serve their purpose.

^Questionably unethical don’t you think?

EDI likes the sight of humans on their knees. That’s a joke.
