When people disappear (even after announcing the final act) we cannot know for sure if friends or family don’t find out they had been posting here and let us know. In the time I have been here, this has not happened.
I have been on this site for 6+ mths and have indeed sadly seen a post from a mom on her daughter’s account thanking sp members for there caring comments during her daughter’s time of need. Her daughter was ~16 years old. And she did confirm that her daughter’s final post, some 4 mths back had been followed by a successful suicide.
Many of us, however, have indeed attempted suicide, even more than once, but we have been interrupted… In one of my attempts I was minutes from dying and really regret being saved. I have seen people who are thankful for being saved. I am not thankful at all. Grr…
Over the years ive seen a few confirmed suicides. Some use the same profile to confirm the user passed, i remember one lady created her own profile on here bout two years ago to help explain the pain that one causes to family when her child was a member of this place and committed suicide, other times users would be in contact with one another and hear about their death. Other times ive had friends finally get their method infront of them and after a few days just go silent, never responding to emails afterwards, why do you ask?
About a year before i found this site, my youngest sister’s best friend somewhat suddenly hanged herself over a series of ongoing issues w/ her bf.
I joined this site mere weeks after Letmesleep made his exit. I know of at least one other person who posted here since i’ve been around, whose exit was confirmed by his estranged wife, who was the primary cause of the man’s distress.
Oh that’s right, i also remember the one mentioned above… orphaner coolscar, was it?
There was also the creator of the HHM thread, whose exit was confirmed by his sister, at his request.
Some people just disappear and keep fighting, others go ahead with their plans.
Most of the time, i only come back when i’m feeling like it’s time to go… but i’ve had a burst of conversationalism lately, and sometimes like to check in to let people know i’m out there somewhere, and to check up on the memorable characters i’ve met, about whom i’m often curious.
Lots of people have very unfortunate and tragic histories of continual and often unnecessary hardships. They are often tormented by people in their lives, until they finally snap, regardless of all their belittled and disregarded attempts to reach out to those who supposedly care about them.
But others are just struggling to deal with the very typical parts of growing up and getting along in this world, and don’t have anyone in their lives wise enough to actually guide them.
