According to the studies, the vast majority of people who are stopped from jumping so not reattempt at the bridge or anywhere else/by another method. Part of the decision to go ahead with the barrier net was based on this info….attempters were “followed’ for the study. The belief that attempters would just go somewhere else or try a different method was the argument of those who did NOT want the barrier net built.
There are a couple of other popular bridges in the USA that erected barriers and suicides in those cities declined overall….so……….
As someone who has been drawn to the bridge myself, I can honestly say that I don’t feel inclined to shoot or hang myself should the bridge no longer be available to me. Nor do I feel drawn elsewhere. What’s a 59 yr old guy with a suicide wish to do?

Very interesting. Think the barrier will be effective? Some people can climb over anything
Will probably be as effective as most other types of prohibition: barely, if at all.
People will just find another way.
