my friend introduced wicca to me and i’m soooo interested in it…we even did a séance to my dad…it was soooo emotional. I would like to start practicing but I have no idea where to start and me and her have lost connection….any ideas or references???
The first book I ever read in an hour (when I was 14) was called “the complete art of witchcraft” lol
It was also the last book I ever read in an hour!
…just saying
Yes, it’s a religion, giraffe. Although I’m not sure if it’s actually legally confirmed as one.
You know, I’ve always had an interest in these sorts of things. Not because I seek any type of religious ideas or beliefs, I have no interest in organized religion as far as the actual beliefs or stories involved go. But there are a couple that interest me, like Buddhism and Wicca, for example. I think that, while realizing that the stories and most of the beliefs associated with these types of things are complete and utter nonsense (especially in the case of Wicca), it’s still possible to get something out of these religions. Mainly I’m talking about meditation and the feeling of doing something to influence things that, in reality, you have no control over. It’s like praying. You know well enough that what you’re doing is probably pointless, but sometimes you get a feeling that you “did something” despite of it. And I think that kind of thing can be healthy.
I like the idea of Buddhism because you actually get something out of it, even with little to no “belief”. Meditation is healthy, and the teachings of the religion can be good for you. A similar thing with the whole “respect for nature” thing Wicca revolves around.
Also… a séance? I don’t think that’s something Wiccans actually do. They tend to have a respectful “good guy” thing going. I think they would consider that a kind of “black magic”, and that don’t fly with them.
I just did it with my friend…not much research on this kind of thing….I don’t know…I just wanted to connect with my dad again…that is also why i’m reaching out to find out where to start. I have absolutely no direction
Just find some books by Gerald Gardner. The dude was kooky as all hell and looked like a weird gnome or something, but he’s like the grand-daddy of wicca.
