Nobody knows what, if anything at all, happens in this hypothetical afterlife. However, knowing what I know about the current world or realm I am in, and where things are going here, and knowing that the better part of my life is already behind me, I am looking at it much like this; if there is an afterlife, maybe I can become a ghost and live forever in a younger and happier state, maybe not. Even if there isn’t anything beyond this, well, zero is greater than negative numbers. In essence, no life at all is better than a life of pain and suffering. At least I wouldn’t be conscious of what I was missing, which obviously wouldn’t be much but pain and suffering…. If there is something beyond this, then I will go to where I can learn and investigate, and study this for myself. If some hypothetical “god” wanted to punish me (as so many people, from Christians to Muslims, to New Agers, all like to suggest) well this just tells me that such a god is a tyrant and needs to be bucked against anyhow. So you can name me Lucifer because I will be you’re fallen angel. I don’t fear the unknown, I dread the known, the unknown is the only shred of possible light in the darkness.

I don’t fear death, I fear living.
