“……all humans are united by a common conspiracy to preserve each one of our own individual lives.”…….—quoted from suicide note by Mitchell Heisman
Even Altuistic behaviours have been explained in terms of selfish gene sacrificing himself for sake of persons carrying very similar genes.
What if what we call moral / good is nothing but a lie…. humanity is a civilized jungle. and the rule of jungle is kill or die.

I think evolution in terms of natural selection through genes is the less important aspect of how humans develop and behave nowadays. Noone has to fear to be killed because of his genes (through whatever process) and the genes effect on the likeliehood of having children is really small. What has a way greater impact on us is the family and environment we a born into, the way we are educated, the moral values we are taught. These things will determine whether you will possibly marry someday and have children. So any explanation of altruistic behaviour purely by the means of our genes lacks these major cultural and social influences.
Whether you believe in morality is totally your choice. But even if you don’t you will probably still act as if you do since our society encourages moral behaviour and punishes the opposite (not only by law). The question is what you would do if you had the chance to act immorally for your own profit if you didn’t have to fear any kind of consequence. But this is mostly a theoretical question since you rarely encounter such situations.
genes are above mind….they operate under the radar…. Environmental experiences only teach us how to express things properly.. what is proper and what is not.
my thoughts are if we are really very different from animal kingdom…… the game is same… only rules are different.
One mans success is anthers failure. One mans pride is another’s sorrow. Its only a slow killing rather than merciless jaws of a Honey Badger.
true there are people who enjoy this process…… they are able to laugh at their own mistakes….but how long ??
^I really like this post
alot of people (not talking about SP) only help others because they want to make themselves look good. which is selfish.
Ice bucket challenge…
Thank you! So sick of the ice bucket challenge. This became about being cool not about an ALS.
If you want to talk about genes vs experience you’ve got to take a look at Dr. Bruce Lipton’s Biology of Belief. http://youtu.be/jjj0xVM4x1I
or this short one on the illusion of time.
