I’m sure many of you heard the breaking news today of 2 news reporters being shot to death by a disgruntled former employee while the victims where filming live.
I saw the video and its deplorable and unforgivable. These innocent people where happy, loved life, and didn’t want nor diserve to die. This monster than turned the gun on himself. I never understood why people like this just don’t shoot themselves instead of trying to take others with him.
Thing is – the man is still alive and in critical condition. He shot himself in the head with a handgun. A lot of people have the misconception that shooting yourself in the head is a sure fire way to end your life. In reality, it is furthest from the truth.
I believe in choice when it comes to the right to die, but I also believe in informing and educating people on the risks that comes with some of the methods people want to choose. If you ever think about shooting yourself in the head with a handgun, think of this story, and countless others.

Solipsism
There are definitely better methods, but given the lack of choice a lot of people have, it might often be the most lethal and least painful if it worked. But most methods are horrific if they go wrong.
The story is awful… I’ve never understood how/why people can kill others before they kill themselves. I can’t believe how easy it is for people to get guns… it’s pretty clear that a lot of them are going to be complete psychos.
In this case the perpetrator “felt” the victims committed some racial or persecutory transgressions against him … although it’s inconceivable how being called a racial slur or being reported to your manager/HR dept is worthy of a death sentence.
I can’t reiterate your point strongly enough – I strongly respect and defend your right to self determination/destiny … but I don’t care what you “perceive” that others have done to you, you should NOT harm others in that process.
Additionally, I agree with you, knowledge is power and anything worth doing should be done after extensive research and planning.
Thanks for posting this – it was on my mind heavily as well
dawg
Thanks buddy
Yeah, murder-suicide… I have a whole real-life story that I grew up with about that. I’d just rather not get into it on a public forum.
Taking someone’s life is horrible. I just don’t understand it…but maybe it’s best I don’t. May the victims rest in peace.
I agree.mim sorry if you had a horrible experience with that. If people wanna go and not inure others than fine, but trying to kill others in the process is down right inexcusable
Yeah-a shotgun suicide survivor (warning very graphic!)

I saw that one before! I saw slot of pictures like that when thinking about a shotgun suicide. Never ruled it out completely, but those images and survival stories scared the hell out of me and made me start to think twice about that method.
Often people like that aim at the chin……BAD area! That’s more likely to fail like the poor guy in the picture did. When doing something like that, you gotta make sure to hit the right areas of the brain. the brain can take a lot more damage than people think
Yeah you told before to place gun at 45° angle facing up inside mouth, thanks for that info.
No problem buddy. Always glad to help in the best way I can, even if it goes against the grain of society
Whoa….that is AWFUL. How did he live? I mean, really….I can’t find words. He must of ended up dying from infection or something, I mean really.
That was haunting.
I studied shotgun suicide attempts a lot. It is shocking how much some people could take and still survive. Alive but mangled with all quality of life erased. A lot of people wind up just giving themselves shotgun lobotomies
Imagine being killed by someone called “Lester”. That just takes the suck to a whole new level.
Maybe this makes me an awful person but i did get a lol out of this (i did knew someone called lester and he was a constant target of name-jokes).
Nah, you made me happy 🙂 Poor guy…
My late grandma had a sister named Lester. Good thing that wasn’t his middle name….his first name could have been Moe
I mean brother lol
Lol 🙂
UPDATE: NBC’s Pete Williams reports confirming the gunman is deceased
You beat beat me by a minute!
Update! The dude just died from his injuries. But I bet he suffered for along time before that.
I just saw the video. Holy fuck!
I feel so bad for the victims
Will read up on this. If he did it out of a racial statement like Dawg said (hey man, good to see still lurking) i agree that in no way that is worthy of a death sentence. Self entitlement at it’s best.
He filed complaints like that more than once and at different news stations he worked for. His complaints where unfounded. Still don’t give people and excuse to kill someone
You’d think they’d do something about it at some point. I mean, he must have shown some sort of erratic behavior at some point before breaking down (even the constant claims could be considered that). I agree, it’s not excuse.
Oh he did. That’s why he got fired. His employs described him as loosing his temper easily and trying to find reasons to blame others for trying to hurt him. He may have had a severe case of paranoia
Also according to the news, he wrote in his manifesto he did it because he’s a gay black man and been inspired by the SC church shooting and praised the a VTech shootings. Guy was nuts!
And in his manifesto he states “Jehovah spoke to me telling me to act” … religious delusions strike again :/
godless dawg
I heard this quote – “if you speak to God, your religious, if he answers back, your skitsophrenic”
LMAO that’s a good one
Sounds about right 😛 … I prefer neither, certainly trying to start a conversation with a nonexistent entity is simply wasted time/breathe
Prophets who create new religions do so after being spoken to by God.
Are you suggesting that people who hear imaginary voices are crazy? That’s blasphemy.
(Bunch of heathens here).
Funny how god never seems to repeat the same message to different people/prophets … they all get a completely different “message” … or maybe it’s the voices in each individual’s head? That “might” explain it …
FYI, If a god needs to rely on blaspheme laws to be enforced by men, explain how “all powerful” this god is that can’t handle his own dirty work?
skeptical heathen dawg 😉
The Lord works in mysterious ways, son. As mere mortals we are not equipped to comprehend the vast intricacies of his profound, all-seeing, all-knowing mind.
If we are ill equipped to yadda yadda … how can one possibly “know” how “he” works … mysterious or otherwise and how can one possibly speak with any confidence on what attributes to describe such an entity that we’re “ill-equipped” to even comprehend?
I call shenanigans … son … and with that said, I’m happy to debate this to death on it’s own thread but I don’t want to further hijack this thread because it bears an important message.
dawg
Knowledge and belief are two separate concepts. Not all that’s true has been proven to be true yet.
People once thought that the earth was flat, and that the Sun revolved around the Earth. Today we know truth.
I understand your not wanting to hijack another person’s thread. I too shall depart.
God bless you.
So it’s going to be black vs.white problem now..? Oh no…
Yup. That’s what everything seems to turn into nowadays
*sigh* It’s truly unfortunate.
It was actually a myth that people thought the earth was flat. Only some of the uneducated people thought so. Check this out: http: // www. todayifoundout. com/index.php/2013/05/people-in-columbus-time-did-not-think-the-world-was-flat/ (Remove spaces)
*This was meant to appear under Morris’ comment
The idiot teachers in school thought me that Christopher Columbus sailed around the world to prove the world was flat. Teaching falsehoods to children is a form of child abuse in my opinion
People knew the earth was round since the ancient Greeks in the BC. Christopher Columbus sailed around the world to try to find a better trade route with India and Asia. He died never knowing he discovered a new continent. Also he was an asshole who used slave labor. He thought the Native Americans where Indians (as from India).
That doesn’t sound much different than the differences in a nation’s history depending on the country’s pov. A big part of school teachings are just molded to keep a good concept of the country that you live in, so at times even wikipedia is more accurate (and how sad is that).
It’s pretty sad. I always believe in teaching children the truth. Children in school shouldn’t get the Romanticized version of America, but the REAL version. Ex: Thomas Jefferson owned slaves and raped them. That’s not an anti American statement, but a true one. Doesn’t mean that the founding fathers should be looked down upon entirely. The constitution and the creation of the United States was a great achievement but a lot of evil things where done in its name – like slacery and the genocide of the Native Americans. But people can still know these horrible facts and still love America and come up with ideas to make This country even better.
Yup, there seems to be this idea that you can’t have a civilized society without deleting the crimes of the past, when in fact it’s all the opposite, they should encourage learning from those chapters so people don’t make the same mistakes again. But sure, keeping face for the sake of a nation’s identity is more valuable than avoiding possible repetitions of past acts.
Brilliantly stated!
Try saying that in public and enjoy how people look at you like you killed bambi’s mom tho 😀
(been there)
Oh yeah! They would call me an “American Hatin Muslim lovin godless communist Nazi Mao”
Now, THAT was brilliantly stated, lol.
Lol thanks.
And that, ladies and gentlemen, is the way the cookie crumbles.
