I’m sorry for your loss, and I’m so very sorry for your pain.
I can only offer you this: a suicidal person is not selfish, not until the very day they die. They hold on because of friends, family, tomorrow, a single promise of something different, maybe even better. It is only until they lose all coping mechanisms that they give up and become selfish and commit to what they’ve been holding out on for so long.
It sounds to me like your friend held on for as long as possible; she lost any and all hope because she lost the ability to find happiness. It is truly no ones fault and I think that makes it so very hard to deal with. People who don’t understand will never get why a depressed person feels the way they do, but please know that if your friend could be here and be happy, most likely she would. I don’t know because I don’t know your friend. I just know that if I could exist happy, I would. I’m sorry for your loss, it’s always so very hard losing a loved one.
