did I mention how much I love you, kid brother? 😛 Just anime. Anime in general is great.
Umm, I love a lot of shows on discovery channel and science channel, I watch WWE on and off now, some NBA (in season of course lol), and Scorpion also.
I agree, still fun though. I can’t get enough of The Twilight Zone, both the original with Rod Serling and the short lives series with Forest Whitaker, all very thought provoking.
I watched that movie, at the age of … 15 i think? well, around that period. Kinda embarrassing to admit but it made me cry at the end, and say WHYYY out loud, lol. To this day i’m thankful that nobody else was home… lol 😀
(and i wish this was a joke, but i’m being serious)
But i’m a guy, it’s different. I would have been seen forever as “the sissy who cried with that stupid movie”. (you’re a girl right? if not i don’t know why i made that confusion and i’m sorry, lol).
Yeah, I am. I see your point… I never liked crying in front of other people though. So when I watch films by myself I have my chance to watch all the tearjerkers. The person who recommended the film to me was a guy though, who recommended it about 18 times over two years and got misty eyed every time.
I don’t have cable or netflix so I don’t watch a lot of stuff you all probably do…
It’s hard to pick favorites so…
Favorite tv shows include: South Park, MST3K, Monty Python, Mythbusters, X-Files, Star Trek: TNG, Outer Limits (old and newer series), anything sciency or history-related…
Favorite movies include: Hobbit/LOTR trilogies (I love most things with a fantasy/medieval theme really), Pixar movies, Stephen King movies, Marvel/DC movies, Harry Potter movies, Hannibal Lecter movies, movies of the tv shows I like…
Is hard to have just 1 favorite tv show, but right now i’d say One Piece (and i’m guessing that won’t change any time soon, lol). The only real-life tv show i can think at the moment is nip tuck, so i guess that might be my favorite? oh, and breaking bad. It’s hard to pick just one, since most shows jump the shark at some point.
One Piece is the only show that can jump the shark and have no problems with it (since it’s a pirate anime… lol, that’s so unfunny).
I hardly ever watch TV or films. I loved one of the latest films I watched, Simple Simon. I wouldn’t say it’s one of my favourites, but it was very sweet and funny (if cliched). My favourite shows are always comedies now… one of my favourites from a few years ago is The IT Crowd. One word: Douglas. It’s childish and completely insane but it has some really funny moments.
I didn’t think anyone would’ve seen it! I loved the weirdness of that show. There was something wonderful in the creepy humour. ‘I think there’s more to you than meets the eye.’ – ‘Do you mean the rumours that I killed my ex-wife?’
Because I don’t really watch TV anymore, most of my favourite shows are from when I was about 16 (including the IT Crowd), and most of them are too embarrassing to share (*cough* The Inbetweeners… I was horrified when I saw that… for about ten seconds, and then it became hilarious). All comedies though… laughter is the best medicine.
Shows I’m on currently: Sherlock (they need a new season NOW), Inspector Lewis, Endeavor, Scorpion, Elementary, and Supernatural
Movies: Stranger than Fiction, LoTR, Cloud Atlas, Anything with Tim Burton’s name on it, and animated movies in general
Someone who likes stranger than fiction?! omg, since i’ve seen that movie, i’ve never found someone that liked it, and i love it, lol. One of the best Will Ferrell’s performances (some could argue that it’s the only decent one, but i won’t go there since i like several of his movies, lol).
OH my gosh there’s a Sherlock Christmas special you just made my night, thank you!! I need to google more often… I’ve shed quite a few tears for a few of the episodes, have a few complaints here and there but overall I like it. I also like how Benedict Cumberbatch (ha that name) was in a Miss Marple mystery on Masterpiece Mystery before he starred in Sherlock
I was a big Tim Burton fan… I own Beetlejuice, Edward Scissorhands, Ed Wood, Sleepy Hollow, Big Fish, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Corpse Bride, and Sweeney Todd on DVD. (Ed Wood I special ordered online from Amazon.)
Pee-Wee’s Big Adventure I’ve seen several times (I need that on DVD too). A quirky classic. Batman and Batman Returns were good, Mars Attacks! was silly, I still have yet to watch Planet of the Apes, Alice in Wonderland was a huge, garish, overproduced disappointment, Dark Shadows was ridiculous (but I will view it at least once more someday), Frankenweenie was cute, but still not up to par with his best, and Big Eyes was an innocuous biopic. Could have added some spice and character development.
I’m curious to see what he’ll do with his upcoming projects, Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children and Beetlejuice 2 (yes, that’s not a typo), but until then I’ll keep rewatching my Burton favorites – particularly Edward Scissorhands, Big Fish, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, and Corpse Bride. Oh yay, it’s almost Halloween, which means I can get drunk and put on my bi-annual double screening of Corpse Bride and the Rocky Horror Picture Show!
I agree that Alice in Wonderland was a bit much, but it gave me one of the few art projects I made that I like (in art class a few years ago we had to paint a portrait of someone, I chose Johnny Depp as the Mad Hatter) so I can’t hate it. I like the Charlie in the Chocolate Factory with Gene Wilder better, to be honest. But I’m wondering about Burton’s next projects too.
Your double screening sounds like a blast 🙂
@Take a Deep Breath: Thanks for another lovely post
*By “bi-annual” I meant every second year. Maybe the word was “biennial.”
TV Shows I’ve enjoyed: Pushing Daisies, 30 Rock, Orphan Black, Doctor Who, Arrested Development, Sherlock, Game of Thrones, Skins (U.K.), Utopia (U.K.), Spaced (U.K.), Real Humans (Sweden), Archer, Veronica Mars, Wonderfalls, Gossip Girl (a guilty pleasure), etc.
Noteworthy new shows from the past 2014-2015 season – The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, The Last Man on Earth, Mr. Robot, Humans (U.K.), Other Space, Killjoys, Dark Matter, etc…
I also like Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D (Marvel). I have to catch up on the second season.
Out of those i’ve only seen Archer and Arrested Development (back in the day) and both are great. Archer particularly is so damn absurd and funny that it gets me every time. Guess i’m a sucker for absurd humor.
Absolutely… and if you like absurdity, you should check out Spaced. It was (sadly) a short-lived British series, but it’s so weird that it’s fucking awesome (and comical). 30 Rock is also one for offbeat humor and strange characters. Seven seasons of that… =D
I’d recommend The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt if you like 30 Rock, as it too was created by Tina Fey, and has a similar kind of vibe. Or, you could try out that one first and then go to 30 Rock, heh, since there’s only 13 episodes so far.

Does anime count as a tv show, btw? 😛

Nope, you never mentioned before big bro! (J/k) 😛
I have finally found someone who watches Scorpion! *day has been made lol*
SCRUBS!!! Yess!!!
I love Scorpion, I think it’s part of the reason why I haven’t offed myself yet. lol
“The Twilight Zone” for that is a place in which I’d much rather be.
I’ve watched all those episodes (and Night Gallery but those on a whole weren’t as good)
I agree, still fun though. I can’t get enough of The Twilight Zone, both the original with Rod Serling and the short lives series with Forest Whitaker, all very thought provoking.
I meant short lived series, it didn’t last long only one season.
A cliché, I know, but Edward Scissorhands.
Well, that cliche is awesome 🙂 Good pick, love

The same here, pretty much. Also thankful there were no witnesses, haha.
But i’m a guy, it’s different. I would have been seen forever as “the sissy who cried with that stupid movie”. (you’re a girl right? if not i don’t know why i made that confusion and i’m sorry, lol).

And somehow i feel like less of a sissy now, lol. Thanks! 😀

I’m a nerd…
OMG I love Mythbusters!!!
Omg I am a total Harry Potter Nerd… like it might be a problem haha
Marvel/DC stuff is also awesome, Pixar was a dear friend during my childhood… You are so cool copelessness 😀

Damn, how could i forget… police squad! lasted 6 episodes but it’s packed with absurdity… love that one.

That one was pretty funny for me, because I was an It guy when I saw it…such an accurately exagerated show, lol.
I didn’t think anyone would’ve seen it! I loved the weirdness of that show. There was something wonderful in the creepy humour. ‘I think there’s more to you than meets the eye.’ – ‘Do you mean the rumours that I killed my ex-wife?’

Father Ted. It’s an Irish Catholic thing.
I think that’s by one of the guys who created Black Books, which is another favourite I completely forgot. It has a kind of similar feel.
Yes, BB is Graham Linehan. I need to watch more than the two eps I’ve seen, come to think if it.
Father Ted is so dumb silly but it has these amazing moments of high nonsense and surreality that make me love it.

I also enjoyed Stranger than Fiction, haven’t seen it for a long time. I’ll have to give it another viewing.
I’ve not watched a lot of his movies, but I adored Stranger than Fiction. “I brought you some flours” aww. I like the dialogue
Sherlock Xmas special coming will be some sort of 1800s throwback.
I’ve watched A Scandal in Belgravia four times. Always cry a bit at the end. That eps is perfect in my opinion.
OH my gosh there’s a Sherlock Christmas special you just made my night, thank you!!
