Sometimes I think about how lucky deathroll people are. One lethal injection and slowly drift away. I wish I could magically trade places with one of them the day of their execution.
I think about that too, they sanction and even pay for these individuals to die peacefully, and yet they can’t allow those who are suffering that have not committed some heinous crime go peacefully. Instead they just wrap stigma and superstitions around it all until you can’t make heads or tails of anything and everyone involved is hurt.
Society is odd. Morals are odd (not giving even “bad” people a bad death), and the desire to keep everyone alive sure is…well…
FTR I’m totally against the death penalty. No worse punishment IMHO than letting someone rot in prison for the rest of their natural lives. Plus, and this really irritates me, it cost more to put someone on death row than it does to either rehabilitate them or just leave them in jail for the rest of their natural lives. I don’t think anyone has the right to take anyone’s life for any reason at all. Must be the liberal New Englander in my coming out tonight. Sometimes Texas disgusts me with their blood lust and open fucking carry laws.
Totally derailed this thread. Sorry.
Yes. People should be able to kill themselves peacefully, it should be a right.
I agree with you. They shouldn’t kill anyone for any reason against their will. That’s why I said I would trade places with one of them if it was possible. Actually many of them commit suicide way before the day of their execution and others beg the judge to put them down way before that day comes. Whenever I think of dying is the only time I feel some kind of peace inside me.

I think about this often
And I thought I was the only one.
I imagine there are any number of death row individuals that would jump at the chance of trading places. Interesting idea that.
