I did a similar post the other day, I think really the selfish person is the one that doesn’t what is best. like if taking a life is on a whim and spear of the moment with no thought or consideration of if things are really that unfixable to stay etc then I guess it is kind of selfish but if a person genuinely feels it id for the best then who really has a right to be agents that persons choice just for the sake of there own wants and not wanting to let go.
I think generally It is considered selfish down to the fact we have been given the gift of life and we are throwing it back in the face… also the possible mess left behind, our bodies, financial mess etc.
I think it is, maybe not a good one for everyone.. we act grateful but really we are not hence why we act like everything is hunky dory to out families most the time. I guess if it wasn’t gift and we didn’t feel we had to be appreciative of it then we could just honestly, openly say.. this is shit I’m leaving, see you on the other side.
I don’t consider life a gift. I wasn’t given a choice in the matter. I’m done living for everyone else. I’m done fighting. I’m done telling people I need help just to have them throw my failures back in my face and tell me how much pressure and stress I’m adding to their life. See you guys on the other side.
Both. But there’s a big BIG difference.
Those who want to die want the best for themselves. If you’re taking care of only yourself in the act of suicide, then it’s not bad to be selfish. You’re doing it for your own sake.
However, those who want us to live are also selfish. But they don’t really care of our condition or our feelings. They just want you to be there for THEM. They don’t care about you, they care about the stable structure of their own little and comfortable world. They are the true illness.
That seems a bit harsh. I don’t think people don’t care about you for not wanting you to take your own life. yer them wanting you there In the background just so you are at hand when they miss and want to see you or for what ever reason is selfish… they know you are probably having a bad time of life but they wish you wasn’t they wish you was happy
Yeah they’ll stop you ever I’m sure they don’t care because they’ll feel guilty if they don’t but if they do they’ll feel high.. Why is When you’re talking about suicide and anyone Automatically Tells you Stupid Things like you’ve whole life ahead and Making Plans For you.. They Think it helps but It’s totally bully and I hate those people Judge me but I hate them.. They’ll say they care but they don’t even move fingers to do something.. Life sucks for someone and Nobody knows Better than suicidal Person..
I think the argument that society creates about who is more selfish is really a non sequitur. Human beings are selfish – period. Selfishness creates the problems of the world and then selfishness causes us to look for scapegoats to blame for those problems. Sometimes even people on this and other pro-choice forums will make sweeping, highly judgemental comments about groups of people that are based on personal bias and not logic.
We humans are all about “us versus them” and “I’m right, you’re wrong”. Therefore anybody who represents a threat to the status quo is going to be branded as selfish by other selfish people being selfish.

That’s a good question. I don’t know. Is it a draw?
It’s a perfect tie.

Maybe some people don’t consider life as a gift.

I agree with both viewpoints. Im a burden. But my death is also a burden on those left behind.

These kinds of questions only further separation and perpetuate stigma. How can you find an objective answer to a question that calls for opinions?
It reinforces the perception of “us against them” rather than accepting that this is a contentious topic which will result in hurt for all.
What if they want to live because they want to help those who want to die.
