today’s night is wispy
my vision is misty
ethereal wishes soar
light and free
breezes blow
thoughts flow
the scent of death
perfuming the air
sweet as sugar
cold as ice
ahead looms a figure
glinting red eyes
a hand he raises
scaly and coarse
yet with ever so much grace
though his voice hoarse
pretty as a petal
steely as metal
he beckons me forward
and so i follow
but not because i’m cornered
the world beyond tempts me ever so
the alluring promise of no sorrow
i know where i’m going…
To the stars and beyond
