That is why we are here.
It’s pretty obvious.
I don’t wonder why people kill off brain dead patients anymore- with special regards to the zombies in pop culture.
We need something from each other’s brains and words.
Validation. Attention. Praise. Reward. Anything is better than nothing, right?
And this is why humans are these weird, social, intensely selfish, reciprocal creatures.
I still haven’t figured it out yet and no one ever will.
It’s so sad to say that the one truth in life is death.
For what do we live? To live like animals?
Is life precious at all? Without death, life would not be precious.
Afterlife is an idea that makes people feel better about life by:
- Promising to punish the “bad” people in this life since people don’t have the power to hurt those they deem morally inferior.
- Helping people to feel like they won’t “spiritually” die, addressing that fear of death
- Helping the powerless, who have a shitty life right now, to think that if only they continue to power through this life they will have a better one after they die…
These are all ideas that I’m going through as I try to figure out what to do next. Kill myself? Try to kill myself? How to go about doing that? Should I choose a high success rate method or one that is more likely to fail?
Will people miss me? Do they miss me because of me or because of what I have given them: a child, a homestay daughter, a friend, an ex, a best friend, a(n) (abhorred) sibling?
I suspect this is less about me and more about them.
It still doesn’t make the choice any less difficult to make.

You got the whole afterlife thing sooo right. For me it has always came to this: “If I do it, would it be misiterpreted as means of looking for attention?!” This hurts… Not being understood even in death… Not getting those things from others even when it’s all over! This stupidity has gotten me to a place where sometimes I just want to see how much more meaningless life can be?
Stupid challenge…
But keeps me going…
I wonder about all that, I wonder what is the purpose in life, you are correct humans are selfish creatures who only care for their needs and make sure to put those they deem inferior down to make themselves feel better. We didn’t choose to be born, but once we come into this world all the sudden were not supposed to want to die, we have to do what were told and live how everyone else is living or somethings “wrong” with us. We’ll have to wait until death comes for us all whether it’s sooner or later until we truly know what happens.
