Death Note is an anime. The premise: A Death God drops his book onto Earth, wants to see what happens when a human picks it up and uses it.
The Death Note is a notebook (much like the black and white marble notebooks used for school lol) where you can put in the name of someone, anyone, and they will die in the exact manner that you specify. All you need is someone’s real name.
Too bad that notebook ain’t real. Too many names need to go in that book!!
If you could write anyone’s name in that notebook, who would you write in there? How would you want them to go?Yes, a morbid topic because I’m morbid like that.

I’d write my own name, of course. As for the cause of death…I dunno, stabbed to death maybe. Or mauled by an animal. But I’m not picky. Maybe I’d just go for the heart attack. If I remember correctly, that’s the default death for someone if you write their name in the book.
Yup, the default in Death Note is heart attack. Wow, you’d really like to be stabbed to death or mauled by an animal? Most [suicidal] people would like a quick painless death.
I’d list all my enemies first, give them long, painful drawn-out deaths (they are not good people).
Yeah, I’m one of those weirdos who hates themselves so much to the point where they can’t think of any death more fitting for themselves than an excruciating one. I don’t want quick or painless.
Hmm. I can’t think of anyone (desires myself) that I would wish that on. What did these enemies do to you? It must’ve been awful for you to want that kind of death for them.
*besides myself
not “desires myself”
Up yours, autocorrect.
Yes, there are a bunch of evil people out there, and they deserve a hellish life and a torturous death. Yes, there are some people that are that vile. A quick painless death is too good for them. I want them to live a LOOOOONG and miserable life, before they die a horrific death. Evil people who do evil things deserve to get punished. Sadly, in real life, evil people rarely get punished. Sigh. Hence, why I need my Death Note.
Hey- Does anybody know if you cross out something in the notebook and write over or above it, if it followed the new commands? Death Note seems to have covered a lot of possibles since Light liked to experiment and tested a lot, but did they ever cross a name or method out and rewrote it?
Like what if you wrote someone’s name, but then had killer’s remorse?? 😛
I looked it up and found this:
“The Death Eraser is a special artifact that can erase the names in the Death Note and revive the people that have been killed with the note.
The existence of the Death Eraser is only true in the pilot manga and does not exist in any other Death Note media. In the main manga and in the anime, it is revealed that if a cause of death or the details of death are struck out with two straight lines before the forty seconds has elapsed, then they would be cancelled and can be changed if desired, but no matter what, once the name of a victim is written down in the Death Note, they will die.”
hm, so the cause of death can be crossed out but you can’t cross out their name? And…what if there’s a bunch of people with the same name? Did they address that problem anywhere? There’s tons of people with same names.
but lol on Death Eraser. It was so obvious, why didn’t I think of that 😛
Hi this doesn’t answer any of your questions but I really liked the whole Death Note series, it’s been a while though. Are you Team Kira or L? ??
If you’re talking anime, Team Kira (up till the point he started killing innocent people).
If you’re talking live action movie, Team L, cuz well, Kenichi Matsuyama 😀
Hey _darkness, after writing down a name, if you change your mind in due time, simply replace the cause of death with ‘natural cause’ and the original context with ‘home, at the age of 87-92’ since these two fit the life span of most humans.
Smart answer. Why didn’t I think of that? :}
@_darkness: That ought to work, right.
except what if they were supposed to die at 50 but now they get to live till 87 bc you wrote that in the book?
and so….does that mean one can ADD years to someone’s life? or maybe not. The Death Eyes shows you when they die, right? So if you say so-and-so dies at age 99, would it change their Death Date?? All good questions. They need to make a Death Note FAQ! lol
Haha, I just thought of something. What if you wrote that they’d die at eighty or ninety or something like that…but then later in life (like at forty or fifty), the person wants to kill themselves? Will it be impossible? That’s what I wanna know.
I just keep picturing some poor guy repeatedly leaping off a building only to land on his feet every time, to his increasing frustration.
So that explains the failed attempts then…
The live action movie was just wklejnkelwk jiojkfowlke fjdsfjlwekj, i have no words lol. I thought L was so cool in both the manga and the live action (but the live action…*cries*) . I was always Team L but I feel the same about Kira for the anime. To be completely honest, Ryuk scared the crap out of me in the live action. It’s been so long since I watched it though. Throwback to middle school/high school days. Thanks for this post…even though i didn’t answer any of your questions lol.
