I woke up this morning (yes, morning. Not afternoon for once). Went outside.
I went outside to find everything AT ONCE.
The tang of wet mist staining the grass and dead leaves at night and releasing the smell of fresh sweet decay and new oxygen
the pavement, the little metal bars between the pieces of stone, the branding, the thought of the men who installed them, the factory that marked the pattern on the metal, the metal mine in another corner of the world
the little bits of random construction on the side of the road and on top of buildings, medieval buildings or are they medieval buildings with history, built up brick by brick and mashed together with mud and sticky concrete, dreamt up in the mind of an architect who went to private school in Britain and now his conception is forever immortal though he is dead
the lights in the canteen were too bright.
the lights beat up everything in sight.
the sounds of people talking in a hundred different tones overwhelmed me.
–
I began to see white static in between the spaces of things, turning into bright, pixelated images that sear the neurons behind my eyeballs

I get out and walk beside a river. “Self care: Walk beside a body of water.” Check.
I bump into someone beside the river who gives me a big hug. She is much taller than I am and enveloped me in a long sisterly embrace. Her neck is soft. She is decked out in unicorn gear. She is wonderful.
–
I collapse into my bed. Sleep, eat and shit and sleep.
Check.
