I will add this – it is ironic that the response we call “mental illness”, is in fact just a fledgling realization that the world is insane. Or, you could say that it is the reflection of the insanity of the world in an individual. And, of course, to see insanity requires some level of sanity.
But, to be “well adjusted” could also mean that, once the realization has been made that the world is insane, a person has a different perspective on the world, and no longer relates to it in the same sick way.

This is an excellent observation and I couldn’t agree any more than I do.
In fact, if you listen to any spiritual teacher (like the guy you quoted – Krishnamurthi), you’ll hear them say the same thing.
