Well if you need people here to be happy and to stop supporting suicide. I think you have set yourself up for dissapointment. This site is rather dark and depressing. You won’t be able to change that. Trying would probably be a futile waste of energy and leave you frustrated and unhappy. Suffering, misery, discontent, general unhappiness. This is pretty much what connects everyone here. What keeps people coming back. People find comfort in that shared unhappiness. Although if I actually wanted to get better I would probably have to stop visiting this site to actually do it. I consider this place rather toxic. Reading the constant negativity of others just reinforces my own negativity and pessimism about the world and other people. I would need to get away from that daily negative if i really did want to change things for myself. Maybe you should find a different group where the people are already happy and positive.
the point is I want people here to feed off of positive energy, if everyone posts one happy thing and even if just one person reads that then one person will be a little bit happier, if the cycle continues, more and more people will be a bit happier.
Yea I get that. Whereas right now we just feed off the constant negative energy and become more negative. I am just saying its a drop of positivity in a negative ocean. We might see that one positive post but it still gets overwhelmed by the dozens of negative posts. Good luck though.
Hey kat, hows it going? Interesting point, I also get annoyed reading about good things happening to peopld and how happy they are. It just makes me feel worse about myself more of a failure/loser to see other people doing well. Which is why I deleted facebook and pretty much any other social media.
How’s it going? Y’know, I like SP, because it’s the one place where I don’t have to lie through my teeth, especially when someone asks me that question. The truth is, I am not doing too well.
Anyway, yeah, that’s spot on. And you’re smart to have deleted all of your social media. I only have one social media (Facebook) and that’s to communicate with my family members. But I wish I’d’ve deleted it before I made that embarrassing post during an episode I had a little over a week ago. I’m a complete idiot.
Yea I think I saw that post. I couldn’t really think of anything to say though. Public embarrassment is probably one of my biggest fears. Are you still taking that calculus class?
Neh, sometimes when you try to share “happy” things here some people get really offended.
But thanks for your wishes anyway. Although the task to “help everyone” is impossible.
Think most of us hear the be positive look at the bright side the sun is shining bullshit daily, we come here not necessarily to feed off negativity but to vent our darkness, and find other kindred spirits in the shadows
Now that I think of it, maybe a little bit of optimism can still make some people a bit happier. It is at least nice to see someone who tries to make people feel less sad. 🙂
That type of thing, trying to make this place “happier” is a slippery slope. I’m sure your intentions are good, but many people here have gotten too much of that crappy overly positive shit on a day to day (hence why every time they see it, they feel even worse about themselves). It’s just not that simple, unfortunately, and it may not have the intended result you are looking for but the opposite…
I’m not saying you can’t try to be a beacon of hope and what not, and I’m not saying you can’t do it, I’m just saying that the things people experience here aren’t all the joyous, and that “happiness” has just been pushed and pushed onto them, to the point where it’s become nothing more than superficial babble that they may even ignore completely…
If it makes you feel a little better about yourself and whatever you are going through, then go for it. Talk to some of the people here, and really listen to what they have to say. Try to truly be there for a person. You don’t need to give them advice or anything, but just let them know you are here and want to make their day a little better…

As someone who can’t have happiness, happy, “uplifting” posts only manage to piss me off.

You can lead a horse to water but you can’t pick your friend’s nose.
Everyone has enough happy memories. The key is not letting the SPIRIT CANCER erase them.
Here one of my happy memories: I remember I used to have a small prostate.
Yep. I forgot to withdraw on time, so now I’m stuck in it.

Unfortunately there isn’t much that can be done. The world is what it is. 🙁
One can try to deceive themselves, but I’m afraid that such tactics no longer work for most people here. So I guess we may as well just dwell in it.
Optimism has never really worked for me anyhow, but distractions have and still do.
