Anybody on here ever get that question? I have multiple times. As a matter of fact my boss just asked me this yesterday. I replied with “I just am”. I figured my boss must’ve really wondered why i was always quiet around him or he just knew some loners dreaded that strange question. It didn’t make me feel uneasy or anything like that because I’ve been asked that question a million times before already. I don’t care to have a close relationship with my boss anyways so i didn’t care if that answer pleased him or not. I answered this way because such a simple question begged such a simple answer. It’s almost like asking why somebody laughs the way they laugh. It’s just the way they laugh. So if he was just trolling then lol and that’s that. Oh yeah and if he would’ve asked “why don’t you ever start conversations with me?” i would’ve replied “Well I’m not somebody who enjoys small talk and i don’t find your popsicle stick jokes or chuck norris jokes all that funny either. So there’s your answer. Oh and our interests and philosophies about life are almost completely different from each other’s” That’s what i felt like saying but personally i don’t feel like talking much when I’m busy working, not even with people i do get along with quite well.

Ive gotten told that Im too quiet too. “You have a pretty voice. You should use it more often.” I just have way too many things running in my head is all. I dont understand why people expect you to talk all the time. sometimes the quiet is soothing. My guess us that they desire estableshing a friendship, which I guess isnt a bad thing.
that’s one of those questions that is, in actuality just complete bullshit, because the only the thing the person really means is “i/we want you to communicate more”
they won’t say this because that would make THEM the dissatisfied party. It must needs be they justify it to themselves that YOU are in fact the issue and what the hell is wrong with YOU. WE have no issue. what, my friend, is YOUR issue.
I’m a pretty quiet person now, but when I was a teenager I use to go days without speaking a single word. I obviously never interacted with anybody at school, and after school at my oilfield job I was always driving a truck. Getting in at 1-3 in the morning prevented me from speaking to family too.
I remember how weird it felt when I did occasionally did speak, and how it kinda tickled my throat to do so.
Best of luck lonewolf (Just noticed we have similar usernames)
