Try to breathe, play some music on your phone if that’s an option. Music at work at all can help.. I usually sing to myself at work.
I had to fight with myself to stay at my first job, cashiering at a DG. It involved stocking too. I still have times i need to take a time out from what I’m doing and sit for a moment away from the work.
I used to go outside at break but it was warmer and daytime so that was an option. Part time made it easier too. I like being outside for break at this job in the summer, but nowadays it’s too cold.
Jobs are different. Not liking this job, or “handling” it doesnt mean there’s not a job you’d be more equipped for or likely to enjoy. In my experience muscle soreness can go away or it can be made worse by the job, if it wears on you too much it’s not a sign you can’t hold down a job, just that your body isn’t used to that kind of strain. Work is also easier with coworkers you like..
You’re trying to juggle school and a job, it’s a lot. Most people have trouble balancing one or the other, let alone both. Again, just try to breathe.
Thank you freeroma. We had more pallets than normal today and went into over an hour of overtime. I was trying to open the boxes way too quickly and my hands ended up cut up and a few fingers bleeding by the end of it.
I was going to quit. I was honestly going to go right after school, go back to the store and ask to speak with the HR director. But my manager talked to me at the end of the shift and gave me lots of compliments (instead of cursing and asking “if I was done yet”). He mentioned that he really hopes college puts me into a good job and until then, he’s really happy that I was here. And that made me convinced to try another day. Even though I was close to several panic attacks the whole time. I never mentioned I wanted to quit, I think he just knew it was a hard day, for all of us.
We’ll see how it goes. Thanks again. I’ll try to do more things to relax while on the job.
have you considered polyphasic sleeping? well its just a thought but maybe you could make things slightly easier on yourself if you divided you’re sleep into sections to give you a boost of energy. like if you were to sleep a little bit less, but fit a twenty minute nap between work and school. the nap would put you into rem sleep which would rest your mind and able you to concentrate better afterwards.
I was having a very hard time staying awake in my first 2 classes. I was continuoisly nodding off from exhaustion. I actually didn’t show up to the 2 classes after, just went to my car, and slept for those 2 hours. Then went to English after. Thank you for the advice I’ll think more about quick napping more often, it felt like it helped
Update: since I slept instead of went to math class… I had missed a test! I didn’t know there’d be a test! She never mentioned one. But you’re supposed to turn in all of your math homework on the day of the test as well which means.. since I wasn’t there.. 0 on all the assignment so far.. And 0 on the test. Just all 0’s…. good job me..

Your whole self probably isn’t used to the strain of your schedule, either, being honest. It’s a lot to adapt to.
