I can not and will not ever believe that God, that energy, would send a suicidal soul to hell. If a person commits suicide, it is because they are in so much pain, drowning in sadness and struggle. Why would God punish someone who’s hurting so badly already. I agree and believe that with all my heart.

I drove by a very nice looking church earlier today and it reminded me of the times I used to attend when I was younger and of all the nice Christians I knew there.
While I’m an Atheist now, I do wish there was some magical Creator who made us and would look after us. But anyone who’s really done the research and pondered the question would know it’s just a man-made fantasy.
So you’re right, if there was a just, loving God he wouldn’t punish those who suffered. He’d actually step in to help them avoid suffering. The fact that people do experience hard lives simply means there is no God at least in the way we imagine it. Also, there hasn’t been a single shred of evidence we’ve ever been visited by some beings from outer space. It’s just ancient nonsense.
Although I liked the sense of community/friendship church offers, I can’t be a part of an organization that is not based on truth. Religions are all based on unscientific ideas and such beliefs/dogma detached from reality can lead to harmful and even dangerous consequences.
The reality is that we’re a lucky species that evolved on this planet and we’re here by ourselves. An asteroid could hit our planet tomorrow and we’d all be wiped out. So we should appreciate being alive and also work towards being a multi-planet species to avoid extinction.
I was radical atheist for a long time (most likely to rebel against my fanatic catholic father) but now I would say I am not. I dont believe in heaven/hell type god that is just shit made up to make people behave (in my opinion). I believe there is God in everything, you could call it the energy, God, Universe , collective consciousness or whatever my personal favorite is probably existence. I think since the Universe and the Multiverse is infinite, everything must exist and this everything is conscious. But everything just happens to include a Universe where for some reason evolved centers or separate individual consciousness including hairless apes. Possibly we will go back to the everything state when we die.
Agreed. The problems many people have with “god” stem from their expectations of its alleged altruism. It’s pretty plain to see there’s noone watching out for us. Religions tell us there is, but, uhmm, no. There isnt. Religion is culturally based fairy tales providing fictitious reasons for our origin, purpose and destiny. One of those imaginary concepts is hell, another heaven. Man devised religion and all of its silliness. So yes, I agree that hell doesn’t await anyone who dies, whether by suicide or not. I’m open to the possibility of there being “something” after this hell we currently exist in, but I have my doubts. In the big picture, we’re just not really as important as we like to believe we are. Why would we be needed in some other plane of existence? To create more garbage? Sigh. Here’s to a blank lack of awareness and eternal silence after we assume room temperature.
