I’m not sure what to do in this life. What about you?
Can you imagine.. all the people, and other life forms that lived and died on this earth. Where are they now…
That article is criminally misleading. By avoiding facts and specifics, it makes us think we can transfer our -consciousness- into a technological gadget. But no, the truth is that we cannot transfer consciousness, or a “soul”, until someone figures out what the hell it is. The technology exists to create a mirror of our consciousness, that’s all. But that’s not us any more than a photograph is us.
Sure, we can develop technology that observes us and mimicks or predicts our thought processes (a rudimentary example: the google auto-fill in feature in its search page which predicts what you want to type based on your history of searches). As the article implies, yes, it’s conceivable that by 2050 these software algorithms may be so complex that they can analyze our behavioral patterns and “auto-fill in” every reaction we may have to a virtual scenario. But that’s nothing more than a big computer program designed to mimick us, no more impressive than a computer game that plays chess. No consciousness, no soul.
I personally believe that when we die, as with every living thing on this planet, our consciousness gets scattered into billions of pieces just like our rotting corpses. It’s not exactly nonexistence, but it’s as close to disappearing as you can get.
I ask myself the same thing all the time but I already know my purpose, what I’ve been looking forward to my whole life – committing suicide. That’s all I’ve planned to do in this life.

They are in the same place our species will be someday. . . just gone. And the planet will just keep on spinning.
Some scientists claim that humans will achieve immortality with the help of technology by 2050
That doesn’t sound possible to me. Do you think it will happen? Do you think it would be a good thing?

Apparently I’ve heard 100 billion humans have lived and died before us. Here’s to them, huh?
