The fourteenth floor came directly after the twelfth. So much so that in the early twentieth century, many tall buildings in the U.S. didn’t have a thirteenth floor. The fourteenth floor came directly after the twelfth.
It also has the added benefit of being able to make your building seem slightly taller than it actually is. xD
