Ever since I was young I’ve always feared death, I remember around six years old while on a camping trip I told my father about my fear of death, his advice was “don’t worry you won’t die until you’re older”, I just turned 41 a few days ago 1/25. I try to distract myself, I have a lot of hobbies, but the fear never leaves and I always think I have some kind of illness.

Most people are afraid of death. I dont think you should be worried about it. In an opposite world, I can imagine dead things thinking “I’m scared of life.”
and “oh no they’re pro-life, starving and dying from diseases they didn’t ask for”
The fear of death is a valid concern, but you need to contextualize it. The odds of dying randomly is extremely low.
While I love planes, I also feared dying in a crash. However when you take enough flights and learn about the incredible engineering and testing that goes into making them safer, then you become less worried about dying in one.
Being dead isn’t really the problem, most of us fear the pain/suffering we might experience before we die, say in a car crash or a terrorist attack for example.
I’ve had a few near-death experiences myself. They were truly scary events but I’ve always beaten the odds so I’m not as concerned. If it happens there isn’t anything I can do to stop it anyways. Some people even welcome death.
The key is to realize statistically there’s almost no chance you’re going to die and to not worry about it. What are the odds that someone is going to mug you? Probably higher than dying but clearly you waste no time thinking of such an event occurring.
That’s not even true. You could get drunk, blindfold yourself, and wander down the interstate at night. You could spill your guts. In more ways than one. Not really.
