I am a Latino and I was sick and tired of hearing all my life “oh he’s such a good kid” all because I didn’t smoke, drink, did drugs or hang out in the streets. It’s like these people expect you to be bad and if you’re not, then you are a weird, square lame guy, what a crazy bunch of people smh

I’m what you call a whitewashed Mexican. I’m at the point in the generational line where I’m the child of the immigrant’s child, so my family & I are citizens. My father was raised so that he would blend in with other white kids, so he was never taught Spanish or any Mexican culture.
felt thisss, my dad took it to some wild extremes
So your father wasn’t heavy into that “machismo tough guy” role like my father was, he was into it so much where it became just ridiculous and tired. He was trying way too hard to be a tough guy at times when he really wasn’t. It’s so stupid
I’m latino too and i always found that so weird. Like, you have to like everything bad that others like or you’re just not “normal” enough. Well, i guessed i skipped the day where they handed out tattoos and all the cartel bands picked members, because i just don’t like any of that crap, lol.
My grandfather (which raised me) was pretty much into that sort of thing (machismo, not street gangs), so i was a failure to him i guess. At some point i just learned to not care and do the things i liked, regardless of what they wanted from me (took me ages tho).
